I was looking at a site that was the first hit for my search term "how to garden indoors". I checked the backlinks for that site and there were very few. I am just beginning with this web stuff....here is one i created a while ago http://liposuction-nyc.blogspot.com I assume there is a lot more competition for my keywords, but i have more content as well as many more backlinks. Is a www. domain that much more important? I am only begining with this area so I have so far only made blogspots.
In my opinion and from my experience, nothing is more important than backlinks when it comes to SEO. Any expert will confirm it
Building quality backlinks is extremely important to Search Engine Optimization, and because of their importance, it should be very high on your priority list in your SEO efforts. We hope you have a better understanding of why you need good quality inbound links to your site, and have a handle on a few helpful tools to gain those links.
I do also support the importance of backlinks and exact keyword based anchor text. But if you fail to manage huge backlinks, then try to make a web site link structure within your site. focus your prime keywords, make useful content throughout the website and links your target page from every other page within your website. Just think of a web. Imagine the center point of the web as your landing page with target keyword. And this center point is well connected with all nodes(pages) within the web(your website). This works a lot.
Get a good mix of High PR DoFollow and NoFollow Backlinks and you are good to go. Google places a lot of Value on the backlinks to your website, backlinks from High Page Rank domains are deemed as more important and helpfull to your website. Always try to keep your Backlinks Strategy more natural including all sorts of DoFollow and NoFollow backlinks. Never forget that Backlinks from Social Accounts might be NoFollow but if you have a well managed Social Account you could see a lot of traffic coming from your NoFollow Links. Hope this helps.
I agree but when you say backlinks you are just not talking about quantity. Quality is often more important than quantity.
That's right, but comparing backlinking to the others seo ways, backlinking is critical. Of course 1PR5 Backlink has more weight than 15 PR1 Backlinks.... The content optimization is also important.
But does Google not penalize when it feels the links are mainly to game the system? Is it ok to buy backlinks?
Back links are very important in SEO, but it is not the only thing that will get you indexed. For a relative specific keyword such as "how to garden indoors," it could be that the site with few backlinks is by far the most relevant site. It could also be that they are few but very powerful backlinks. Additionally, don't underestimate the importance of some of the smaller SEO tactics. For example, having the keyword in your domain name can give you a big boost. As to your original question, hosting your own site does help, but you can reach #1 with a blogspot address. However, if you want to make $$ with your blogs, I strongly recommend hosting your own domain. People will take your websites more seriously, and are more likely to buy/subscribe/return. It is not very expensive. $5, $6 buck per month + a $10 domain name. Most hosting companies will even give you a free domain when you register. Hope that helps.
Have you considered creating real content for the site instead of just stuffing it with keywords? You and a million other people are doing the same exact thing.
While building backlinks, you have to make sure that your web expansion seem "natural", because Google doesn't like the opposite. It's ok to buy backlinks, but make sure you don't only have 100 backlinks only from PR4. You have to balance it with Pr0, PR2, PR3 backlinks. And not all of the sudden create 75 Backlinks the same day....Remember...."natural"... Otherwise your site will look "suspiscious"
Yes you are right. In fact, i focused more on Backlinks because that's where people strggle the most. But that's true, Unique and consistant content are as important as backlinks.
Sure, I have two blogs where they have long articles with rich content. This was one i was experimenting on. I have landed on lots of these pages when searching for random information and so I decided to see what it takes to create one.
Reaching both goals is possible: Create consistent content and have at the same time keywords and keyphrases in the text
Well what all i would like to say from my experience is that backlinks from quality domains, niche relevancy and High PR is what all it counts when it comes to in preforming SEO....
