Any ways to get traffic for free or at very low cost?

I need to get more traffic to my website but can't currently afford to pay much more than $20 for something that is quite sure to pay for itself.

What are good ways to get traffic for free or at very low cost?

    Thanks

For Free Traffic you can try Traffic exchanges or Search engine optimisation to rank your website higher so that you can get Organic visitors that are targeted to your website..:)

There is no such thing as free. You either pay in time or money
and I guess you mean traffic that takes time off you.

Forums are one of the best methods.
They are full of highly targeted passionate buyers. Very qualified traffic.

Your answer to traffic isn't buying it. You need to find ways to drive traffic to your site using social media, link building, SEO and other unique campaigns. Hard work pays off.

Google "traffic exchange." Basic idea is: you look at someone else's site, they look at yours. Pretty simply and it's free. Well it'll cost you your time but no money.

Wouldn't traffic exchange require that I put all "their" links on my site too? I want my website to keep a professional look (not that it does with the atrocious design it has now but that will soon change) and don't want it flooded with links, unless they are allowed to be on their own separate page, but I'm not adding tons of links to my homepage.

About SEO I've heard of it but have absolutely no idea what it is, where can I get started about understanding what in the world SEO is? My website is already on page 1-2 on google for most related terms.

    Thanks

Note: I'm sorry I don't how to put all replies into the same one in any practical way, I hope this forum allows me to reply to each message in their own reply, if not can someone tell me how to reply to all messages in a single reply?

What exactly would I do with Facebook or Twitter to get traffic? I'd have no idea where to start. Do you mean just posting a link to my website in the wall of my personal page?

And I've never used Twitter so how does that work for advertising?

Maybe I should have specified I meant I want something free in terms of money, I have plenty of time to spend, but no money.

I don't understand what you mean by traffic that takes time off me, can you please explain that?

How do I post on forums Without it being spam? The reason I never posted my website on any forums is that I do not want to look like I am spamming the forums, so how can you do that and be within the rules of the forum? No forum I know of would allow self-advertisement. I would be very interested in learning how I can post my website on forums without it being against the forum rules or viewed as spam.

    Thank you

Am I allowed to post my own websites on this forum?

It is a website where I sell an auction sniper software for eBay as well as a web-based eBay auctions sniping service.

I have about 8000 customers and this product sells very well among the eBay users.

    Thank you

I do agree.Building traffic takes time and money. You can either pay in time, money or both especially for a new site.Forums, blogs, article directories are all 'free' traffic in exchange for your time.

You can buy one of the gigs in Fiverr.com where they send traffic to you website for five bucks. If you want free traffic you will need to write articles and submit them to article directories and build back links to your site.

    Hi aab1...
I found press releases on Google News to be the way to go. I purchased a Press Release company (www.googlenewssubmit.com) and used their supplier to get HUGE traffic.

I noticed you said you would be willing to pay $20, well this is far more effective per-visitor than PPC campaigns. Send me an email and I'll lower the price to $20 for you. (sales@googlenewssubmit.com)

Finally, it's listed as a WSO here if anyone else is interested:

    Best of luck!

If you are selling the product well i guess you must be making profit so why do you have just a budget of $20 or less unless its a low markup one but still re-investing some of the profit back into promoting the site would make sound business sense to me.

It's simply that at this particular time I've had a combination of both bad marketing tests that halved my sales for nearly a month combined with several large bills I have to pay this week, that's why at this moment I can't invest much, but my latest tests seem to have gotten sales going again so I should be out of this financial mess within a few weeks at the most.

Others have said this already, but I have absolutely no idea what that means. Does this simply involve me simply posting a link to my own website on my personal facebook page's wall or is there something more to it? I doubt just a link on my personal page that only my friends can see will do much at all, but I'm hoping I'm missing a part (that no one so far has mentioned and I'd really like this missing piece of the puzzle because just saying "Facebook" means nothing to me).

I've bought traffic from some websites and while they did send a few thousand hits they made no sales (while unpaid organic hits make many sales). How can I avoid this?

    Thanks

Do you have an email list ?

If so, you can try some swaps. They have huge potential.
