Is "Ezine Articles" Worth It and Other Link-Building Techniques

Hi, I am relatively new to SEO and am trying to determine today's best practices for building backlinks. I am a decent writer and am wondering what forms of article marketing people find effective in today's SEO practices. Is the seemingly popular "EzineArticles" website a good platform for article marketing? Also, how about submitting to directories online. This seems to be toward the top of many lists when people recommend ways to build backlinks, but it seems that the majority of links that point to a directory are dead, as in the directory. appears not to exist anymore. Are directories a thing of the past and is time better spent building backlinks in other ways? Let me know what you all think.
    Thanks so much.

    Tim

You need automation nowadays to compete. LOTS of automation. You don't have it, you'll work like a dog, probably for nothing.

Would anyone else like to comment on their experience with EzineArticles or any particular directory. Do you find these to be particularly effective for building backlinks. What works and what doesn't from your experience.
    Thanks

you have to submit your articles to all top article directories this way you can get good and quality back links to your site and targeted visitors to your sites also, make sure your articles are fresh and qualitative for getting much benefit as fresh content is indexed in search engines very easily.

You will be outsped by most people unless you're having a niche in which you have no competition at all. It's alot of work and there are alot of directories, a program or a website that will do it for you would be way more than worth your money and time in this case.

It's important to do, but if you can't get it automated, be prepared for a grind.

Hey thanks everyone for your posts to this thread so far. In doing a little more research and viewing all of your posts here so far, it seems the general consensus is that directories are not what they used to be necessarily but that they still can generate backlinks which are obviously so important. I was wondering, could you all weigh in on your experiences with directories and if you've found any quality directories that do not require fees, extensive stipulations, etc. Again, I'm not too familiar with directories so even if there are more obvious, well-known ones feel free to bring them up as well.
    Thanks everyone.

Article marketing is still one of the best ways to build backlinks and its easy to take that article and transform it into media forms

Is "Ezine Articles" Worth It? Off course, why? E zine is the one of the best as well as first number directory rather than all..because, every day 1000 or more than visitor comes there!

Ezine article directory is great for article marketing. You will able to get decent amount of referral traffic from Ezine. SEO value of article directories is less after the Panda update. But still its worth trying.

Any article site, no matter how high their PR is, can only pass so much juice for seo, that being said, once you published a number of articles, any additional articles won't pass additional juice. As to how many is that magic number, only the search engine knows.

Getting back to what was mentioned above about automated services- has anyone used automated services with much success? Is that better suited for firms with a larger budget for SEO? Say SEOmoz.org for instance- would that be practical for an individual blogger or small business? I'd like to hear all of your thoughts on this.
    Thanks

Since Panda, article sites weigh very little. You've got to do thousands...thousands...and then more thousands.... of submissions. Basically, while ezine may be a PRwhatever, all the articles have a penalized PR0 weight. Based on G's PR math it takes about 100,000 article links to bring your site to a PR1. In reality it's less than that, so they are doing something there that we don't know about. You should still make a few however, as you need the diversity in your links.

i think "yes" but now it's so difficult to submit our article there.. choose a paid version to make that process faster

Article directories have lost ranking after Google's update. However they still count as far as SEO goes and article writing is still popular for this purpose. The best way to ranked well at present is to constantly add content to your own website and build backlinks for your web pages.

I read somewhere that article submission software programs do not work and that its better to do it manually.
