Is SEO harder for a .info?

Discussion in 'Search Engine Optimization' started by loveson1, Sep 22, 2011.

    Hi all,

I've heard conflicting opinions about this... Do .com, .net, .org etc have more SEO value than .info?

    Any thoughts? Thanks in advance.

I believe they are more difficult to get higher rankings with.
Even though they are both gTLD's the .info domain is much much cheaper and therefore
stuck with a bad reputation of being the preferred domain for spammers/scammers online.

It's also less appealing for most people to click on a .info domain than a .com domain.

Not at all, the extension doesn't matter. There are plenty of .info ranking for competitive terms.

In general .com websites are easy to remember.

And domain extensions do not affect SEO (except when they are country based ones for local listings).

domain extensions do not affect online promotions, though it's just that .com are widely used extensions for websites (commercial)

it shouldnt matter really, it just depends on what you are ranking for, certain terms are harder then others.

The extension doesn't really have any bearing on the SEO. The extension is not a factor that affects your website's ranking. Keywords do. You can choose whatever extension you prefer but most users remember .com by default and so you would want to choose a .com whenever possible.

Yes, .info domains are not good for online campaign. They requires more and more work than any .com or .net domain. Mainly spammers use .info domain for doing fraud in internet. So, people do not rely on them.

While I think this is true based on experience, I still think that the extension doesn't really have any bearing. Search engines will not treat your website any different if it is a .co, .com, .biz, etc. Visitors/Users will. Like that .info extension. People think it is either a small informational site or it's a low-quality,spammy site.

Google Consider .info as spam Domain cause it is cheap and spammers use this domain. However no worry it is a domain name and you will get good benefit. if you want to generate some blog or info related site than .INFO is best... Good SEO always matters..

I don't think Google has any preferences as I have never found it written anywhere that they prefer certain extensions. Still, when possible/available, use .com as this is the most popular among users.
