Now getting harder and harder using articles to promote our site, just wonder what is the average length of decent articles? Any idea? Please share with me if you know. Thanks

    Hi,

Minimum length is about 250 words, which I think is too brief. 400 to 600 words is recommended and around 900 words is considered tne max. If you are a gifted writer, ignore this, since your articles will be compelling. The idea for the rest of us is to give your reader enough info to grab and keep their attention (and click your link). An article that is too long might mean that your always hurried reader will leave before he/she reaches your call to action. Give them a good taste, but make them come to your website for more.

    Much Success,
    Geroge Pierce

Although Google cherishes pages with more content (meaning more words in the text/article) I still don't think it's that important whether article has 400 or 600 words - link is a link imho (if we are talking about article marketing for backlinks).

If you are talking about articles whose role is not just for backlinks but for driving traffic to your sites or affiliate offers, then there is no universal rule - apart from the lenght being an SEO factor to some degree, the actual BEST length depends on niche, demography and such things.

Depends on your niche and audience (visitors). Since we aim for educated audience, we focused on writing articles with mid length ranging from 350 to 600 words.

The length itself doesn't matter if you focus the information to a small demographic of your visitors, and you should pay attention to your writing style and make it understandable to people who aren't familiar with that particular field.

According to my opinion the decent length of article is 400 to 500 words. It is enough to write article with this limit. I have written many article and maximum of my article has a length of 440 or 460 words.

In my opinion minimum 400 words and more. Everything depends on the site, on which you want to submit your article

Everything depends on what is the message you try to give with your article out and what are your purposes as well as where you post it. For such sites like Ezine the ultimate length is 500-800 words. But not the number of words that matters, what is more important is how interesting and informative your article is and what new information you share with your readers.

Quality is always important, but it depends on what you are shooting for. If you are looking for low level links from article spinning, then 300-400 words is fine. If you are trying to get your article picked up by a blog or high end site, then quality is every thing and 400-800 will be required.

Above 200. As for limit, it really depends on the article. It doesn't hurt to write a long article, especially if you really want to get a point across and educate your readers. No one wants to read a 200 word post that briefly outlines something compared to a 900 word post that goes in depth without being boring. Longer articles could be easier to sneak a few keywords in as well.

If written article have quality to attract readers then google and other search engine will index them on top of the search result. The decent length is 500 to 750 words. You should write informative articles.

It depends on the purpose of the articles. I would say the minimum should be 400 words for SEO focused articles. These would be submitted to article directories, web 2.0 sites etc. Many don't even accept articles under 500 words anymore though, so I would say the sweet spot is between 500-700 for these types of articles.

If you're posting articles to your blog with the idea of ranking them on google I would go for a minimum of 1000 words. Anything on your money page should be 700 words or more.

If I'm submitting to an article directory, I always keep the article between 300-500 words. This way, the articles can be reprinted without changes to the length. If I'm publishing the article on my site or blog, I'll keep it under 400 words.

In some cases though, the length of an article is less important than the format. There is now a general agreement that the most effective online articles are those written with sub headings and bullet listings. Such articles are easy to read and your visitors can grasp the main points of the article even if they don't read the entire article.

From 500-1000 words or more if needed. Add charts and graphics where you can. They really help to get your article linked to, which in turn gets Google to see you as authority site.
