Is peace possible or just a naive dream?

If one wants to decipher all the differences between us one merely has to go on this forum.We have different cultures,languages,races,religions,politics,genders etc.There are so many issues that divide us and indeed all of humanity.When I think on this it just seems that peace is impossible.Is humanity doomed to fight until the end of time?
There has never been a time in history where there hasn't been war.Hell we can't even come together on P&R.It's always we are right,the other guy is hopelessly wrong.We all debate,no quarter asked,none given.When it's all over nothing has been gained,only new resentments formed.We are much like a small United Nations on here.They can't seem to ever resolve anything either.
Any thoughts on this,or do you feel that peace is just a naive dream?

 

As long as there will be a massive competition for basic resources this will never stop . The world could be at peace only if every man , woman and child would have its fill . For that you would need to stop overpopulation which is already a run amok problem in quite a lot of places .

Peace is somewhere close to us and it streams to us, but we are like little kids always want to have adventures as well. In peaceful world it will be boring and those who want to live aggressively and actively in constant war really continue such world's condition. So peace is not a naive dream, but a far star and we have to gain it.

Describing peace as "a far star" is a good way of putting it.Peace is a beautiful thing but elusive.I have maintained in more than a few posts that we need less historians and politicians here on P&R and more philosophers.Hope to see more of you on here.

You'll also notice that intelligence and aggression go hand in hand, most predictors are intelligent because they have to out smart their pray. Like ApocalypseXL said, competition for resources will only ever increase. Due to that extra competition aggression tends to increase. Although mankind can't exist without some kind of cooperation, it's almost impossible. Which is why we've build a world and an economy where we all do something for someone else.

 

The word you are searching for is "predators" not "predictors".I'm not a natural speaker of English but even I can't help but notice how you continually manage to screw up the English language.Are you not educated?

Poverty and lack of equality have nothing to do with this . Competition for natural resources and overpopulation are two hard , cold realities that we must confront whether we like this or not .

No I disagree with you.Poverty has been a driving force throughout the ages for turmoil(anti peace).It has caused revolutions and social upheavals.Riots and looting.......poverty causes people to feel desperate and gives people a feeling like they have nothing to lose so they take up arms.Poverty and peace are in direct competition with each other.

 

Poverty is sometimes a reason for conflict, e.g. America (poor and in debt) goes into Iraq to steal its oil, or Zionists (who had no land) steal land from another people.

But there are many other reasons for turmoil such as wanting to be in power and rule over others, racial supremacy, greed .... etc.

 

You have merely accented my original point.Namely that when all is considered,peace is nothing more than a naive dream.When I ponder this,I could weep.
