    create title & meta tags
    optimzed images & content
    create HTML & XML sitemap for your website
    add ur website in webmaster tool

    For my new sites, I usually set up a sitemap and submit it to search engines once I get enough content. Make sure to add backlinks gradually for new sites. Hope it helps!

    The first thing you can do is select a finalized list of keywords that you want to rank for, then make your site presentable to the human users as well as the search engines by making sure that you have your keywords in all the right places. Then to increase the web prescence build links and build lots of them from high PR sites. Good Luck.
