Does wikipedia allow webmasters to create backlinks for their site. if possible please tell me how this going to happen. If wikipedia with PR9 can allow us to create backlinks that would be A+
Wikipedia allow outbound link for more reference. but, it is not easy to get.. you need quality information about anything
Wikipedia backlinks are nofollow, though there is some debate whether the search engines still give credit for these links or not. Nonetheless, Wikipedia links can drive traffic on their own, so approach it in terms of building traffic to your site and not necessarily getting a high PR link.
Make sure you aren't just spamming your link with them because all the credible editors will take it out as soon as they notice. You have to make sure your website is not only related, but a truly useful and credible reference for the link to stay live. And as revium mentioned, nofollow links don't hold as much juice as the other easier ones you could make.
You can't promote your website in wikipedia. But one can submit important information there with relevant references.
Due to its strict No Follow policy on outbound links, you might not consider Wikipedia to be an ideal property for link building at first. However Wikipedia is seen as an authority site in the eyes of many users. Links found on Wikipedia articles can be given significant trust and often lead to links from other publishers writing on the topic. Some of these publishers have a significant influence in your market. Therefore building trust and respect within the Wikipedia community can bring in significant rewards for your time. This will require a time investment on your part as building trust in the community does not come over night.
yes , this backlink is so great , but it is difficult to get ! hope i will be a professor of this part .
Although nofollow links are supposed to be of reduced value, I'd still far rather have a nofollow link from a trustworthy site than not have it. That said, you can't just spam your link in wikipedia or any similar site as it will be removed, and remember your IP is logged when you update their pages. So make sure it is relevant to the article which you're adding it to.
You can get wikipedia link by citing their articles or adding your website as reference site. Backlinks from wikipedia is good because Wikipedia is very reputed website and such backlinksa are certainly important for a website. But wikipedia backlinks are nofollow backlinks, so they wont help you in improving your SERP rankings.
It's VERY hard to get a link to stick in Wikipedia, in my experience they are removed within a few hours even if the site you're linking to is of high quality and relevant.
Its indeed hard to get links from Wikipedia, but with enough persistence, you can eventually get backlinks from Wiki, provided you know how to do it. The links are by default nofollow. However, bear in mind that there are many sites that scrape content from wikipedia, including links as well and when the article carrying your links end up on such sites they become dofollow. Besides the above, wiki links helps to bring good traffic as well. As someone mentioned above, to be successful with Wiki, it takes a lot of time, but once you get there, and know how and where to place your links, you are pretty much on the top.
stevenyoung is correct in regards to the overall benefits of Wikipedia. Since it's an authority site you can definitely see long term benefits. If you are trying to get a backlink there, it's going to be in the additional resources area. However, you must present your content in a way that allows you to have more (and better) information around the topic on your personal site. It's a tricky writing concept, but if you have the time to do it; it could be beneficial down the road. Good Luck~
you can get the wiki[edia back links.. make some useful content and gave to them and ask them to place a back link to your website.
You need to have relevant content to be cited on Wkikpedia. The links generally appear in the footer of articles and they will take down anything they ("they" is a very large self policing crowd that's there 24/7/366) consider spam. If you are not a registered user any attempt at spam will be gone in seconds or minutes, the longer you have been registered and the better your reputation is the better your chances are of posting something that will stick. I was looking for some information about Bitnami * a free service that also has enhanced paid offerings and here's what appeared at the top of the page: That gives you a hint on how they frown on commercial activity or anything appearing like it on their site. Although a link from there would be nice, I think you would have better success finding or buying links to high PR edu sites. *I don't think my post count is high enough if you google bitnami wikipedia it should come up at or near the top.
