Wordpress is better if you host it on your own domain. Have used blogger in affiliate marketing but results were not good for me as compared to wordpress which yielded far better results in seo wise.

I'm going to talk about a self-hosted Wordpress blog, from Wordpress.org.

    1. The ability to customize your blog theme.

    2. Wordpress is free, you only have hosting costs.

    3. Most hosts offer one click installation through Fantastico or Simple Scripts.

    4. The Wordpress community has developed hundreds of plugins to help improve the Wordpress functionality.

    5. You can choose from hundreds of free themes if you don't want to invest in a custom theme for your blog.

In Blogger you can use third-party scripts but no scripts allowed at Wordpress.

I have used blogger In the past and now moved to WordPress and i think WordPress better than Blogger :D

    So the reason is :

    1-Faster loading
    2-Great support from the developers
3-Has a large number of plugins
    4-Friendly search engines
5-you can customized themes as you like ,,,,,and more

But if you want a free site I advise you to choose Blogger Because allowed you to Place Adsense Not like the free WordPress.

If self hosted, WordPress is the way to go. It has tons of plugins that help you easily optimize your site and keep Google and other search engines updated with sitemaps every time you make a change to your site (add/delete/change a page or post).

If you are talking about blogger vs wordpress.com (hosted by wordpress), then it is a bit of a toss up. However, I have had good results with blogger... Keep in mind that Blogger is owned by Google too!

    Both! =D
No seriously, why not use them both. You could use it as an opportunity to test out some simple strategies such as:

Say you have a post on Blogger that you want to promote product-A, then you can use Wordpress to create a review of said product and link back to it, and in the same page that Product-A is on (Blogger) you can put something like "want more info, check out a review found here" and link back to the review page on wordpress. It's more work sure but it will probably only yield better results for you in the end... just an idea anyway.

For self hosted ,I prefer to go for Wordpress because of in built SEO, abundance of free plugins and themes and support
For sponsored blogging its little more tricky to choose
Wordpress= In built SEO ,minimal structure
Blogspot.com= Lot of inbuilt options( Adsense,Maps and other Google products ...)

    Note:
Blogspot blogs are seems to be deleted frequently due to spam or other complaints

Ya, Google outright says the that they will penalize you for this... don't do it. Read here http://www.google.com/support/webmasters/bin/answer.py?answer=66356

"Don't participate in link schemes designed to increase your site's ranking or PageRank."

Wordpress does have the more SEO oriented plugins and for that alone, it gets the upper hand
