My site is three months old, and I'm gradually starting to climb up the first page for my keyword, but in the meantime, I'm getting most of my traffic from social promotion. I get about two hundred unique views a day from Twitter, but I'm wondering about the constantly changing back links, even though they are no follow, they must be being recognized by Google, and I'm also wondering about the bounce rate. Is social promotion bad for SEO, or is it good, cause I remember hearing that Google does take social signals from Facebook and Twitter into account for ranking a site.
Yes it is good for you. What you want to be careful about is your anchor text. Try to keep more of your anchor text in line with your target keywords. Too many links, nofollow or not, with different anchor text can potentially disrupt your SERP listings, but twitter uses direct short URLs so doesn't really apply there.
This forum is no follow, but I just read that you can rank a site on no follow links alone, so long as they are relevant. Yeah, I couldn't imagine Google punishing you for having a site that gets tweeted a lot, unless it had a high bounce rate. I try to make quality content to prevent that.
Yep, that's right. Nofollow is often misunderstood. The only way the social promotion could affect your serps negatively is if you constantly posted links with horribly wrong anchor text, or something like making your link text "cool contest" or some other unrelated keyword to your SEO/M and constantly repeated the process making a whole bunch of links with conflicting keywords. I mean it would take a lot of lousy link posting.
Social traffic is def. not bad for your blog, you just have to do the SEO linking/backlisting correctly.
Social promotion doesnt help with search engine rankings in terms of building good backlinks, but it doesnt hurt either.
Hi, social marketing will definitely drive good traffic to your website but it doesnt have to do anything with SEO of your website. if you want your site to rank in search engines you should have the below things done * quality content on your site and regular updates * back links from good PR and relavent websites who should also have quality content * back links from articles and blogs * onsite and offsite optimization of your website * good meta tags
a simple no would already suffice already. because how do you honestly think that google would penalize your website from social sites? If you are thinking of spamming social sites with your website, then maybe - but naturally, no way.
You said it yourself that you heard its good. Social network promotion is one of the best few seo methods that actually give traffic and give your site the exposure it needs.
Social promotion isn't bad for SEO, but it's definitely not the ideal place to focus all your energy. The downfall to spending the majority of the time promoting this way is; "YOU CAN'T STOP!" If you do, others are going to pass you by. It's basically a short-term benefit. xInd makes a good point, because the shorten URL makes all the anchor text responses irrelevant to Twitter. However, you definitely need the best of both worlds, so continue what you're doing. Just make sure you are taking a natural approach to your other marketing strategies. This way you still have all those unique visitors each day, and by the time the other stuff becomes relevant you will have even more. We hope you see more benefits for your website in the next 3 months. Good luck~
Hi, It is one most the easiest way to get quick traffic to a webiste but followers needs to be of niche type to get expected results.
I get my followers from Twiends, and I guess they would be targeted as they are looking to promote their site on social media, and my site offers that service. I've made three sales on my site, and sold maybe ten Fiverr gigs. I really need to rank no 1 for social promotion on Google though. Any specific ideas on that, apart from the usual general tips?
I don't think so, the net is becoming more social network oriented so any exposure from the social networks is good for your site
yes links from facebook is no follow. but good news is that you are getting popularity. when you will get popularity then someday people will direct search your site in search engines. then it will count for you. so keep updating on social networking sites.
When you are driving traffic from social networks be sure to try and brand yourself, it is not really SEO but when a lot of people know about your brand they will start searching for you. Getting twohundred hits a day from Twitter is pretty awesome, well done!
This is correct. Not because a site is no follow means it cannot help your site to rank. As long as the site is relevant to yours, then you're all good. Make sure that your anchor texts are related to or are your keywords to better help your SEO efforts.
