The traffic increased suddenly

In the last few days the traffic for my main site increased suddenly from around 300UV to over 1000UV without doing any SEO. I must be worried about this change?

 

Why - This is great news... Perhaps you picked-up a juicy new link from somewhere.. Are you using any backlink analysis tools?

 

You have not mentioned when this thing starts to happen. Perhaps, any of your recent published news/articles are matching with some most popular keywords, like cloud computing... etc. Congrats.

 

Heck no that's great news. Wish I was that lucky. Possibly someone put your link of a post out there and hopefully your not getting loads of spam.

 

Mabe Google increased your ranking.

 

My first guess would be your server has a ddos script running somewhere, and the traffic spikes are the outbound attacks.

Are you on a managed server?

 

What is your traffic refferals? Search engine ,other or direct traffic.
Like sudden traffic down,the traffic increase also should be taken care of
Monitor your analytics and find the reasons.

 

you should moniter your analytic as well as webmaster tool and keep notice on referring site links

 

Yes,monitor backlinks for your site through Google analytics and do place the reason of sudden increase in your website traffic and ranking.
may be some work of yours contributing to that..!!

 

You need to be happy about that. Try to analyse your traffic to see from which sources you get this visitors.

 

Check your traffic source, nothing to worry if the visitor are from search engine

Lol at "i would be happy".I also had huge traffic increase,but it was'nt seo increase,it was bot traffic increase while my actual se traffic dropped totaly.

 

Good for John, but in my case its just the opposite. Traffic is down insanely... I hope its temporary and will spike again

 

Getting increased traffics is good new whether it is sudden or regular, so nothing to be worried about that; but you should have to keep the traffics coming regularly for the long lasting effect.

 

If you Using Google Web Master then you can find out the keys and words of Content that bring you Increase visitors

there are also several things :
1- Maybe your site got a high PR in search engines like top 10.
2-Maybe you wrote the article coincided with a very low rasults but have high of search from users .

 

Yes, these were the reasons. Some articles got a better position in SERP and also there is a low competition on these keywords. Coincidence or not, all this occur after improving my website loading speed: before it was "Your website is slower than 89% of websites" and now is "Your site is faster than 50% of websites"

 

It could simply mean someone has made your traffic go viral, normally if you have done nothing that could have caused this, there is nothing to worry about
