You could find similar Wallpaper blogs and leave comments on them, leaving a link back to your site, ensure that the comments you leave add to the conversation, the more of these you do, the more your site will rise up in the search engines

 

I dont what to say this but try checking out the wallpaper section on 4chan and every day make a couple of thread posting your wallpapers with watermarks and a link to your site

If you want to get any search engines t raffic, first of all change titles to unique ones (not the numbered ones)
- because you will get none search traffic even if you do lot of backlinking.
I start to get search visits ONLY to my unique written ones, and none of numbered or in other way batch renamed ones.

Regarding backlinking - try exchanging with other wallpapers sites, its good for new sites and easy to do,just post a topic on DP,
or contact wallpapers admins directly using site contact form.

And regarding watermark - i wouldnt add any watermark in your place as long as they most likely copyrighted (someone must have created them )
It just a suggestion to stay away from possible complaints if some not friendly picture copyright owner find their own work with your site name they most likely visit your site and may complain. Ive readed some stories that a guy has some problems even with adsense and domain and host when copyright owner complained to them, when webmaster refused to remove their work

If you looking for a serious long run with your project, better to leave as less chances for problems as possible!

The torrent idea is great! You could also make a video with 15-20 wallpapers, add some background music and a watermark, and share it on YouTube and other popular video sharing websites! Make sure you first tell your friends about it!
