    Meta keywords are now is not as much important in the eye of Google but you can use 8-10 relevant keywords in meta tags.

    META keywords has proven it's use to me. This is a very useful when your site has already been indexed by Google. Your keywords will be more visible.

    Why risk it? Google has made it obvious that they don't want you to know what it is doing...go ahead and add Meta keywords to every article. Especially keywords you are trying to rank for.

    What risk? Google is not the pedantic and malevolent despot it is made out to be. All they ask is that web masters make themselves useful and they then give us plenty of room do the stuff we do. It's only when you start abusing the system that you are likely to get into trouble and that's where you need to ask yourself what is ethical and what is not.

    Want to get a top ranking in search engines? No problem! All you need to do is add a few magical "meta tags" to your web pages, and you'll skyrocket to the top of the listings.
    If only it were so easy. Let's make it clear:
    • Meta tags are not a magic solution.
    • Meta tags are not a magic solution.
    • Meta tags are not a magic solution.
    Meta tags have never been a guaranteed way to gain a top ranking on crawler-based search engines. Today, the most valuable feature they offer the web site owner is the ability to control to some degree how their web pages are described by some search engines. They also offer the ability to prevent pages from being indexed at all. This page explores these and other meta tag-related features in more depth.

    <meta http-equiv=”X-UA-Compatible” content=”IE=EmulateIE8″>
    <meta http-equiv=”Content-Language” content=”en-us”>
    <meta http-equiv=”Content-Type” content=”text/html; charset=ISO-8859-1″>
    <title>Pam Hunter Design – Modern Web 2.0 Web Site Design Titles and Keywords</title>
    <meta name=”description” content=”Pam Hunter offers professional design services for your business.”>
    <meta name=”keywords” content=”ad copy, typist, wordprocessing, webmaster, webdesigner, artistic “>
    <meta name=”robots” content=”INDEX, FOLLOW”>
    <meta http-equiv=”imagetoolbar” content=”no”>

    Certain search engines notably Google no longer takes value with Meta Keywords, but that doesn't mean the other search engines won't

    Meta tags are very important for the site as it acts as the face of the site and the crawling of the Search engine depends upon the meta tags and its visibility on the world wide web.

    Don't believe the hype. Remember what "they" said about no-follow backlinks not passing value to your website. I would certainly keep using them.

    Google, Yahoo and Bing don't even bother to look at this tag anymore but some ancient SE like Ask and AOL still use them. It can't hurt you to use it but don't waste too much time on it either.

    I still use them, irrespective of what the general feeling is. There is a co-relation still set in on some SE's.

    As such when you are promoting your website meta keywords tags are not important but you can use meta keywords to promote your blogs.

    Although we still use the meta keywords tag in all our pages, it has been made very clear by Google that the keywords tag is completely ignored. Other search engines still use them as was mentioned above but the best way to ensure high rankings is to have your page's content and the title of your page match each other and be keyword oriented. When a user searches the results are more quality related than ever before.

    I actually wrote some code so that my meta keywords are used in my tag cloud for one site. Some SE's still use meta keywords. I also use those same descriptive keywords when posting videos on youtube for the keywords field.

    Yes they are useful whether google recognizes them or not.

    What is a tag cloud? Have never understood the term. Title tags I understand. Keywords rich content I understand. Is it the equivalent of adding primary key words to the footer of a page? How does Google behave, how does Google feed off a tag cloud? Where does it feature in the pecking order?
