Is there any guideline/Doc that can help me to customize JoomLa??

It seems that all we can do is only on the Admin page.

    Thanks!!!

I guess it depends on what you mean by customise. I have a few crumbs about mambo / joomla in my blog - but you can make it do all sorts of things.

Question: How do you customize joomla?
    Answer: You don't.

    You should try http://www.modxcms.com
I've been transferring all my sites over to it. Good stuff.

    Sorry couldn't help myself.

I know it can be done. I just enjoy selling people on modx. Templating is so easy and flexible.

...I'm sure Joomla is great too.

Actually customising the template design in Joomla is pretty easy. If you already have a template, just go to Installers >> Template Site in your admin area. Click on Browse, choose the template you wish to use and then hit on Upload and Install. Even customizing pictures in template can be done by going to Site >> Template >> click on the template you want to edit and then hit Edit HTML (top right). Make your changes and oila! :D

Well, here's the thing. I really like the default template that comes with Joomla! I'd like to swap out the header image and change the background color, but when I do this in the html/css editors, it doesn't make my changes.

    Ideas?

edit the default template by manually swapping out the images in your local directory (/templates/rhuk_solarflare_ii/images) and then upload your changes to the respective directory on your server.

I'm sure that there is a better way, but this worked for me.

You should always use template overrides.. never hack the core code.
