    Google Gears is a Web browser extension that allows offline access to some online applications by downloading data to your hard drive. Google Gears is not restricted to making online tools work offline. It also allows for enhanced online functionality.

    Apps must be written to specifically use Google Gears, so installing Google Gears won't suddenly make all of your online tools work offline. However, there is a workaround for Firefox users.

    Its launch on 2007-05-31 and its latest Version launch on 2008-11-24... Its really old news but good coz still lots of people unknown from this...

    i heard google gear is dead and development is stopped .
    Game angry birds in Chrome use HTML5 function for offline access i think html5 will replace it soon
