Splash pages are a popular Web design feature, but if you put up a splash page, you may get more than you bargained for - or less page views.

Typically splash pages are not recommended in SEO because they are not optimized as well or do not contain as much information as a normal homepage. Many times they are created to entertain so they use large amounts of Flash which can also hurt SEO efforts.
Splash pages are used for commercial messages. SEO point of view it's little difficult because there are no content and dynamic pages.
Splash pages are an introductory page to your Web site. They typically offer one or two of the following features: * graphic or logo * animation or flash movie * choice of how to enter the site (flash/no-flash, etc.) * technical requirements (browser, version, etc.) But its not good seo point of view .
i didn't know much about splash pages. thanks for sharing this information n letting me know about it.
though these pages can attract direct visitors to your website but this has nothing to do with SEO because Google do not read flash n animations. so doing this will not harm ur seo but it will not give you an advantage as well.
