Which CPC to consider?

    Hi,

I am new to adwords, i have setup campaign, ad group and ad.

In adwords account for my 1 keyword this message appears "First page bid estimate: $4.75" . What this means? I think this is the CPC for first page placement.

But for the same keyword and the same region "google keyword tool" shows $9.68.

So i am confused about which CPC should i consider.

    PPC experts answer this.

    Thanks,

I think Google Keywords has historically given people problems. I'm not sure how accurate it is...

I would just try doing it and see where it ends up.. Perhaps you'll know which bid estimate for the first page was right.

Anyways, since you're new to AdWords, perhaps you might already know this, but some people purposely try getting on the second or third page because it weeds out the click-happy browsers and drives in more qualified traffic. Something to think about.

When in your account, you are correct, that's the estimated bid to appear on the first page. The first page can contain up to 11 ads.

The keyword tool shows the estimate to appear in the first to third position. Note that the tool uses an average QS (it doesn't know what your QS is) which is a QS of 5. In your account, it does know your QS and as mentioned, it doesn't calculate the same thing. There's a difference between being in the top three and being on the first page.
