Everyone has a fu***** e-book these days

It really irritates me that these days everyone is giving their free e-book. I understand that some of the books are good, but probably ones from some professionals. But every blog or website I visit these days give some free e-book. Also the whole websites are full of ads and full of some arrows where should I subscribe. The content itself is in second place. No one cares about offering some quality content before putting ads across the whole page. And this is also advice for those of you who work that way: write quality content in a first place than put some ads if you want to monetize your site, but don't exaggerate. I hate when I come to site and feel like my only purpose there is to click on some ad and make someone earn money. Respect your visitors and they will respect you.
I'm sorry if I offended someone it wasn't my attention, cheers!

It's a nice observation but I've found a lot of valuable free info from opt-in list as well. Junk is everywhere. I just avoid the hyped ones and keep focus on my objectives.

Unfortunately, 99% of all those "free books" and "marketing websites" is just a total junk. All basic information on internet marketing and online money making is available on the net for free. Just use search engines to locate it. :)

95% of internet marketing ebooks are basically this:

Sell people an ebook with the claim that they can make money online. The ebook tells them to sell the ebook to other people who want to make money online, etc.

It's basically a massive ponzi scheme. There are valuable ebooks out there, but it's hard to weed through all the recycled junk to find them!

Well of course no one likes this kind of websites but the thing is that most of those website owners are making good money selling junk to regular people who hope to make money online someday

If you are looking for valuable information just skip everything that comes via ebook (no matter is it for free or paid), because everything you need to know you can find via Google search or on forums

I'm a big fan of sites that give you free tools -- like software, graphics, and other cool stuff that you can actually use to build your online businesses.

There definitely comes a point when you reach information overload and you no longer need those very, very basic "How to Make Money Online" types of ebooks.

But never forget - in this economy, more and more people are heading to the Net in droves to try to crack the code for making money online. And some of those ebooks
actually give some half decent "overviews" of what people should start thinking about if they want to make money online.

I do personally hate it, though, just like the OP says, when you get those highly predictable types of squeeze pages trying to get you to sign up for some ebook
that is probably PLR material written a half decade ago. :) So annoying!

You are right. The worst thing is that most "marketers" seem to be robots because they all do THE SAME THING, I.E give away a free ebook, build a list and spam the hell out of it trying to make a quick buck.

Sad but true my friends :p

This is true, but it's not necessarily a bad thing... If 98% of marketers are unimaginative robots who offer the same old generic crap, then it's not too hard to stand out from the crowd by offering something of real value! Quality products (be they ebooks, or freelance services, or whatever) will always rise to the top. It may take time to get them there initially, but when people see something of real worth, they remember the quality, and they will come back time and time again because they KNOW you're providing something different from the dross churned out by your "robot" competitors.

It's a trend now to have your own e-book. Even if it has valuable information, or just some junk in it.

    Not true.
I'd say those people are just sheep.
Real marketers make their money BECAUSE of their imagination and being able to come up with new stuff.

Yes, I partly agree. Some free offers turn me off. I equate it to seeing those infomercials and seeing the free bonus offer if you order now. It frustrates me because it seems like a sleazy gimmick designed to appeal to the consumers appeal to value as opposed to strengthening the perception of quality.

However, my business partner is absolutely in love with these free ebook type offers. He literally has an inbox filled with thousands of them.

That's precisely the point I was making in my post, Drudge. "Real" marketers, who offer imaginative alternatives to the "generic crap", are in the minority, BUT they are the ones who succeed and who will still be around in 10 years time, long after the sheep have fallen by the wayside.

Those of us who understand this concept have an unbeatable advantage over those who don't.

Hence my statement that "this is not necessarily a bad thing"... for you and me! It just means that 98% of the apparent competition can easily be overtaken by the simple application of imagination and originality.

There's definitely a lot of garbage out there. So much of it is rehashed PLR but the fact remains that free information offerings work as a marketing tactic. They always have and probably always will. People just can't resist free stuff, particularly when it's good copy promoting it. Whether it's TV, radio, classified ads, display ads or web ads, they continue to pull so advertisers continue to offer them.

The other thing to remember is just because you wouldn't read it doesn't mean others won't. Also, you don't expect or need everyone to read, download, etc.. You just need enough of them to do it. If the free report is a hook to get a list together, you generally need to follow with decent content or lose your target market's interest.

Personally, I won't promote a money-making offer unless I've made money on it or can personally verify it's a winner. The thought of taking somebody's last buck to sell a product that I'm not sure of doesn't gel with me. A lot of people are really struggling and if I'm saying I can help, I should be able to do so. Of course, they do need to take action.

The old adage of content first rings true with many potential consumers, unfortunately the whole "get rich quick" has profilerated the IM sector, and everybody and their dog is doing the same as everybody else who says it works, the problem with this is the market soon gets saturated, waiting for someone to come up with something unique, then everybody follows suit when their technique is revealed, and the cycle continues.

Patients is good for starters, especially for free information.. On occasion I do see something new with a bit of value, just filter the rest- don't get consumed by it...:)

You can't even tell one website from the next. As soon as the page loads, there's a huge pop-up promoting the free ebook. Click that closed. The page is then full of the same banner ads. Click the whole page closed. The same "but wait, do you really want to do that?" warning script as every other site.

    It drives me insane!!!!!!

I know it can be really irritating and you're right -- most of it isn't worth your time. But like anything, if you're willing to wade through all the inferior stuff there could be some goldmines. I personally have found quite a few helpful free ebooks in my time!
