you all have a point..you cant really rely on forums,,i think forums just give you RESIDUAL traffic,,it is best to optimise your site to rank on google,,you can try this google cash monster package..it really work for me

The best way for me to get targeted traffic for my sites has been to post in forums and (more recently) comment in similar blogs. It's not an easy task, but I'm pretty 'talkative' so it's a nice way to relax after 8 hours of web design. The traffic has been steady and of good quality. Not to mention that, once you establish yourself as a decent forum member or blog commenter, you get the benefit of having a 'good brand' too, making people more trusting in your links and promotions.

In my opinion I think that forum is the best to get traffic as compared to other work.As one comment a quality link then there will be definitely more traffic & more visitors,hence sites PR will increase.
