Social network for rockers

I've spent some time in developing a social network for all people that love rock. The link is http://usrockers.com/ . Do you think that this kind of site could have any success? I know that is hard to compete with bigger fish like Facebook or Google +, but maybe if I choose a niche I'll do something good.

If this is a rocker social site, it should be less boring aesthetically. Check out hub.guitarhero.com. Way cool. Spice up the logo and header and you're half way there. Also, the home page should not have just the sign up form. For example: Why should I sign up to join if I'm not convinced that the site is cool? First prove that the site is cool on the home page and other tabs, then maybe I'll join.

First of all, thank you for taking time to see my site. Second, regarding new logo and header , I'm not sure that users would like a fancy landing page. I followed the examples of google and facebook , and tried to keep it single. But if more peoples will tell me the same thing you did, I will try to make the changes.

First change the home page, your home page is fill up with Create an Account form and it's wrong.
Try to put some pictures with rock stars, you must make the visitors to search the "Create an Account" button.

 

Ok . So if everybody told me to change,and to insert an image and not to leave the registration form , it means that you were right and I was wrong. So I did what you ave told me.

The top banner is boring to me and needs to be more creative and colorful (maybe you need to create a logo for your website?)

1. You need symbology - In your header throw some Metallica, 80's bands - 90's bands, names, images. .etx HELP ME RELATE!
2. In the Big Image - Tell me what I can find here? A community of Rockers... Hmm.. Sheet music, videos , exclusive indie bands, underground Death Bands.. ??? tickets, hot girls with guitars wallpapers, Guitar Review, Drum Reviews,
3. When you have created all of that.. go to other forums in the same genre's and promote it through your signature links.
4. Ask people. . What do you hate about myspace and facebook....
5. In Essence, You have an idea.. but as most marketing people will say.. what is your Unique Selling proposition? What makes US Rockers -- better then other sites..

 

Thank you for pointing me to the right direction . Actually these are good advices and I will try to implement them.

 

Basically it is a wordpress + buddypress theme. You have to completely customize the theme to be more attractive. There are a lot of buddypress plugins and make use of it for adding the features of your website.

The homepage should be with the profile pics of your users, so that people register will trust your website and so in turn you will get more members. Provide chat features as it will get more users registered.

Build your subscribers so that in future you can make use for anything.
