ok, social networking and twitter sounds good but dont you need to have alot of followers for that to work.

Looking to do it for cheap as possible so ads are not really gonna work

Blogging, blog posting and commenting, forum signature links, directory submission, and using social media (e.g. Facebook & Twitter) are good ways to promote sites. And also free, too.

I had a proxy site, got decent traffic mostly from europe.
Now i want to start a temporary email site, i want to monetize it and get legit traffic.
There are already sites in this niche that are doing well, i just want to break into it and be able to compete.

    1. Reply questions on Yahoo Answers and quote the web site.

    2. Design a 404 page, which directs again to the web site home page.

    3. Make a review of a company or a product. In case of a positive review, e-mail it to the company. Request them to feature it in the press section. This works well.

    4. For easy web site traffic generation, write a few articles and submit those to articles sites.

    5. A writer may also write a newsworthy press release and submit the same to the PR Web for targeted web site traffic generation.

If you decide to work on SEO, be aware that it involves a lot of hard work with NO GUARANTEES.
You'll have to write articles, create backlinks, etc.

However if you manage to get a good ranking for a decent keyword, you can do very well.

SEO is the bbest way. however, promotion will always take the most part of our business, and the more you promote your site the better. so take 1 promotion method, stick with it until you see profit from it, after that you can reinvest to prmote your site in other methods.

Article marketing and blogging are probably the best free methods. Creating a Press Release can also generate substantial traffic.

It really depends on the audience for the site, certain platforms work well with certain sites, as always repeated testing will give you these nuggets

First, make sure for the quality content of your site for a better chance of ranking on the search engines. Then go for blog commenting, article posting, web 2.0, backlinking, twitter, and putting links on your signature does help too. If you have the budget you can go for PPC & Facebook ads.

you may be looking for a quick sale or to build your prospect list.
What is the action you want your ad to prompt?
    • Do you want people to visit your web site?
    • Do you want them to call you for an estimate or an appointment?
    • Do you want them to come to your store?
    • Do you want to get them to give you their contact information so you can market to them again and again?
So what advice did I give to Bob, the muralist? I told him to clarify his marketing message to parents before spending money on his next ad. A one-line explanation of the problem he solves will ensure that his ads are noticed. Then I showed Bob how to prompt prospects to take action by showing samples of his work and offering a free guide to decorating children's bedrooms on his web site. All this described in one or two concise sentences in his ad.
Given Bob's business goals, marketing strategy, and budget, postcards were an excellent way to deliver his marketing message. With an effective marketing message and strategy they would help him grow his business.
Make your advertising an integral part of your marketing strategy. Use a brilliant marketing message in your advertising. Give your prospects an incentive to take action and you'll attract many more clients and find yourself earning more. -
