My site No.1 in Google? Shouldnt i be earning millions?

I am running a very small website. Recently it is no.1 in google for the financial products/services. i never did any link building, its just purely content.
Shouldnt i be earning a millions? i heard that if you rank no.1 in google, you can earn millions.

I started this website, almost 7 years ago.

The irony is i make something like $5k to $10k in a year and there are competitors as well. Some advertise through adwords, which i fear that i may be losing lot of clients. will this effect me?

I'd say if you are getting good traffic, you have to encourage them to join a list. Otherwise, they are just leaving without even clicking on an ad a lot of the time. Offer massive value, and then they will opt-in. A lot of marketers don't judge themselves by their ranking in Google, but how big their list is.

 

How much traffic are you getting? Seems like we would need more info to help. You can rank #1 for really obscure topic that gets no traffic and you aren't going to make a dime etc.

 

It depends on which keyword are you ranking #1 and how much traffic do you get.

Depends only on what keyword you have and the amount of traffic that keywords gets, how many times it is searched.

 

Well, first as others have said, we need more info about your site, Perhaps the niche and your keywords. You could rank #1 for this keyword bsuhekfmmf in a matter of days (mabye even hours), but that doesn't mean you are going to make millions. Why? Because nobody searches using that keyword. So, ranking #1 for that keyword, doesn't mean anything.

To make money, you need to rank for a keyword or keywords that are being used by a lot of searchers. Which means you can get lots of targeted traffic whcih then you can use to make money using different optimization methods.

Another thing to keep in mind, Believe it or not, you wont be making millions even if you rank for the biggest keyword(s).

 

don't be afraid dude. i think Manual SEO is very much effective than the adwords. by using adwords you will get visitors only from the search engines but by using the manual SEO you can get visitors from SE, Social media, Forums each and every where. so don't be tensed.

Maybe if you rank #1 for search terms like
hosting
web design
viagra
stuff like this

But if you rank #1 for how to make a tent you don't earn milions ...

 

Well congrats on gaining the elusive number 1 spot. But the main problem is that your traffic is not converting into leads. Now try working on that. The number 1 spot only indicates that your site is better than all the others but they must buy something as well.

 

No, its a very good search term, its just that market isnt opened up. i am confident that once product/service in demand, people use the keyword and i may earn more.

Just because a site gets to number one, it doesn't mean it will be raking in the money, it depends on a lot of factors, the audience, the competitiveness of the keywords/terms, and how much the advertiser of your product/services/affiliate networks are willing to pay for your traffic

 

Firstly, I was #2 after google themselves for the term "Webmaster Blog" - and I do get a fair bit of traffic from Google, but it doesn't mean I earn much from it..

Secondly, just because you see yourself as #1 doesn't mean you're really #1 - google display interest-based results now too. So try going to google using a proxy like hidemyass or something, and search your keyword(s) - you might not be #1.

 

It is always good to get rank 1 in google. If you are getting about even 1000 visitors monthly then also you can make money. But to start earning money you first need to open your website for advertisers. Sell space on your website. More hits you get more the price advertisers will willing to pay. Next you need to start a subscription service. So that you can collect emails and send them emails about your products. You can also sell affiliate products.

 

i'm also in a no. 1 position in google for a city travel guide site but i don't earn millions still. what advice can you guys give?

 

The traffic is important the more the visitors you get the better your chances of earning more.
