My website which provides a service in India is ranking in the 3rd page of Google.com for a keyword that ends with 'India', but is seen no where in google.co.in. It is not geographically targeted in webmaster tools and nothing in robot.txt. I can't think of any reason. (I am based in India). can anyone help??
try to get back-links from some .co.in sites. An easy way would be submitting in Indian classified sites, Indian PR directories etc.
Promote your site India Basis search Indian Dir, Classified , Indian Business Listing, Indian Press Release. It men try to do all of-page work on India Basis. so you will get ranking on http://www.google.co.in.
You get advantage in rankings on Google.co.in when u have co.in domains, so if you are having the doamain with .com extension Google will consider it for Google.com only, set your default location as India in webmaster tool. Find a put Google locator code in your website contact us page probably. This will help Google to locate the location of business. and like others suggested try to get links from co.in as well as try to get your site listed in yellow pages site of India. This should help you, Regards, David
Suppose I search for 'scaffoldings India', google should understand that I am searching for something from India. So if I rank for 'scaffoldings India ' in Google.com and not in Google.co.in does it make sense? If I ranked in Google.com and not in Google.co.uk for scaffoldings India it would make some sense.
Hi, Apologies for late reply. If you change it to India you may loose your rankings in Google..com by few positions, but if your target audience will be from India, they will be re-directed to Google.co.in when they go to Google.com, so that wont should hamper your process. It will make difference, anyone going to Google.com from India will be redirected to Google.co.in most of the times. So to get the traffic from India it will make sense to get rank in Google.co.in. If anyone has his ideas it will be good for us as we all are here to learn. Regards,
