Page Rank is still N/A... after a month of pure seo, what is happening?

I submit my site to around 60 directories a week, post on blogs/forums and leave my link, i have an article in ezine, i'm always updating the content on my website...

i'm finding it really hard to beat my competitors in the same area too... can anybody help?

so are you saying that it will be pointless to even submit to nofollow directories? and where would be the best place to find 'dofollow' backlinks?

Actually a month is nothing in SEO. Only sandbox is about 6 months
So just work in this way, update your content, update meta tags and etc... And most important collect 60-100 backlinks per week.
After 1-2 years you will see the result

Directories? People still submit to link directories?
Get some social bookmarking and web 2.0 linking done, you'll be fine.

ahhh i see, it's just i see people saying they have just opened up a blog within a couple of weeks and already they are indexed and have a page ranking... you say 'update meta tags' like i have to keep adding to them, is this true?

and does it matter if the backlinks are do/no follow, from your past experience?

oh dam, looks like i've slipped up there, i thought directories we're the way forward up and till now... no wonder they we're so nice and easy, it just seemed like they did nothing for me. I have never heard of web 2.0 before so i will deffinately look into that

i'd honestly highly recommend against directory submission. when i first started doing SEO a few years ago, i started with directory submission because its one of the easiest methods, cheapest, and can produce the most quantity. However, as I began to realize quantity means nothing to Google. its all quality. a couple PR4 backlinks do much more than 500 PR0-PR2 directory links.

matt cutts did an article about directories a while ago (can't find it) saying how google has picked up on these 'link farms' and doesn't hold much value for them anymore so unless its something like DMOZ, dont waste your time.

Of course the do follow backlinks are thos which are having highest weight for you. They are increasing your PR, SERP and etc.
But in my experience I see that no follow links are also important if they are coming from websites with similar content.
The best think to develop your SERP is to make strong relations with you competitors - making link exchange
Also directories are good way to improve your ranking, but definitely you should have in mind that they will have any weight if you have more than 5,000 or 10,000 directories, where you manually submit your website (for about 1-2 years work)

Never thrust to autosubmitters, autocommenters and cheap service for article writing. They usually hurt your blog much more than they give you a profit.

Final stage of course is buying links and blogposts for your website (not more than 5 per 1-2 weeks)

Indeed yes, i was wondering why it only shows 10 backlinks i have because i submit to loads of directories, not even my article backlink shows, or even blog comments where i leave my anchor text behind :/

........ see i don't understand, i have e-mails everyday saying something like this one that i had today... 'Your website : Wright Signs Ltd, has been listed on our webdirectory Flesko.co.uk ' but my backlinks never seem to go up, or is it the fact that i should just ditch directory submission all together because it's useless, to be honest i am not finding any benefits from it

You not done enough work to get PR of your site. You just still need to do hard work to get better result on search engine.
