Trying To Get Used To Crutches, Any Suggestions?

2 days ago during a basketball game, I just scored then after putting it in the basket and landing on the floor something weird went on with my kneecap, it went to the most lefty side of the knee and gave the 2 big bones that connects to the knee (the one beneath the knee and the one on top of it) the option to move, they both went out of their usual place in the knee so they were out of the knee but still under the skin, it looked very weird (the school doc' passed out in this point.. :X) then after quick analyse of the situation and really huge pain I decided to get these 2 bones into their place, I did so then the ambulance came.

In the hospital they did me xray check and MRI check, they both said that my knee is okay and the same goes for the other 2 bones, everything fine except the fact that my knee is filled with a lot of blood and stuff like that (this is because that a lot of blood vessels were teared during this painful thing), I didn't allowed them to get out the blood because of possibility to get infection in the knee so right now I'm waiting for my body to clean the mess up and start some physiotherapy..

Right now I'm on crutches for the next weeks I guess.. Any recommendations or suggestions for how to spend the time on them? I already tried to make a cup of coffee once but it ended up as a huge failure when I was looking like I swam in it....

    Cheers

i kinda had the same problem.. ive just had a operation to replace my acl (ligament) and my knee is full of fluid and looks all mangaled.. with the crutches.. wrap padding around the handle.. trust me that will help .. and to try and sort ya balance out.. just keep going with them.. even when your stood still waiting for something.. lift your self up on them.. play around on them.. the only way you can get used to them.. is to keep using them!

Hi nitsan,Donning crutches will give your joints more strength, recovery time and rest to heal back to the normal position. Your knee caps are still very fresh to be pressurized with heavy weight of your body. You can understand the example, if you are wounded and constantly check your wound by opening it, then you are not allowing the wound to heal by constant poking, but, if you wait for time and then check it, you can see that it has healed and now even if you poke, the wound is not string enough to bear the pressure applied on it. hope this helps.
