Software for building a website?

Discussion in 'HTML & Website Design' started by ricky smith, Jul 15, 2011.

So, I'm really looking at building a few niche related sites to try and get some extra income. My biggest problem is, that whilst I am good with computers and can use most programs rather well, I cannot code.

Are there any good pieces of software for creating websites where you can do it all visually? Kind of like the old Frontpage but something that looks relatively professional and worthy to be on the world wide web?

    Any thoughts much appreciated,

    Ricky

I didn't think dreamweaver was particularly geared towards designing a website purely from visual elements? Or am I wrong?

well it is possible, its basally a more advanced form of FrontPage.

i would never suggest designing a whole site in design view as some html elements are important such as keywords and description

If you don't really know what you are doing, building sites by hand that way is probably the worst idea possible.
Use a CMS like WordPress or Joomla

Install Wordpress on your server, get a ready-made theme (free or premium) for it and start using wordpress' admin panel and easily post whatever you want to :)

I think you can use dreamweaver. I know someone (not designer) who makes sites for his projects with it every now and then.

Dude, your choice is a blogging platform that does not require you to code and provides free themes that you can modify with the platform's inbuilt menus.
I suggest digging wordpress(dot)org or .com

Depending on your skill level, I would suggest WordPress for beginners and Dreamweaver for advanced designers.
