It´s not my dreamjob..by dream is to not have a job..
However, i learned the hard way, trial and error, alots of hours in front of photoshop and notebook ;)
Later when i could afford to buy dreamweaver things went easier.

But i designs website now and then when im short on funds for other project =)

Hey, i do webdesigns and what i did was doing some tutorials. Not the ones that show you how to add some effects to the text or how to make a fire or ice - thsee are good to find out what photoshop can do , but go to www.psdtuts.com ( for examnple ) and find tutorials like " interface design " Practice , practice and practice...

My not updated portfolio : www.grzegorzkuras.pl - some old ( no time for update

I remember is was like 13 or something, and was very inspired by website-design etc. I began reading html, and created simply (now ugly :p) designs and just read and read and read. Today I use tuts+ as my learning-source.

I was 17 years old back in 97, I got a webtv and and angelfire account to host my "personal home page" and then a few webmonkey tutorials later and yahoo searches for how to do "stuff" got me in the game. Then after that I just found some really good books on related stuff and kept up with the trends.

Now there are good books from sitepoint and apress that I go to. tuts+ is also a good site. smashingmagazine.com is a nice web design blog to follow as well.

For me it was at school in my computer science degree. It is not my dream job as I prefer system administration.
But after learning the basics, it was by repeated hours of work that I became fluent in website designing.

Hey! I am also a software developer, but due to immense interest in web technologies I started learning web designing 2 years back.
Since I knew C++, java, .Net .. it was much easier for me to learn javascript and php :)
A few days back I also started up my coding blog : http://coderscab.in/

I have also added a small CSS3 tutorial there :D

With the Internet providing thousands of educational sources, any person who has the time and desire to learn web design is able to. Blogs are a great source of tips and tricks when it comes to learning web design. I would suggest finding these niche blogs and keeping up with the posts. Forums are a great place to learn as well.

I'm no expert but the internet has taught me so much. the whole tutsplus network is awesome for learning, wp tutsplus net tusplus etc. There's so many great web design blogs and learnings resources online.
YouTube is also where you should start searching for tutorials so you can see, hear, and get a better understanding of what your trying to learn.
Books are great too, just pay attention to the year its released.
