What factors influence where a site is placed in the Google Maps listings? Is it the keywords you select when creating a Google maps, the order you select the keywords in, backlinks, page content or other? Much appreciate any info as I have a site that is fairly high up for "bed and breakfast Auch" in normal listings, is registered with Google maps under "bed and breakfast" and yet doesn't appear on Google maps for "bed and breakfast Auch".
A few tips I would use to optimise a listing would be to add a keyword in the business title. Try and the keywords in the description and the categories section. But the most important would be reviews. Try to get reviews and stars to your listing. Google does pull in data from third party sites like tripadvisor, booking.com etc. Do make sure you have positive review here also and optimise these pages for better results. Hope this helps you. Cheers
You need to ensure that your NAP (business name, business address & business phone) are the same across the internet so the search engines can verify each mention of the business is the same one. So make sure wherever you find your business listed on the internet (yellow pages, local directories, etc.) that the NAP is consistent and the same.
You can use the benefit of adding categories for your business. This would help you in getting more targeted traffic from Google Places. You can also add photos and videos to make your listing more complete. Use accurate business address, phone number and website to be specific. You can use your target keywords in titles to get some extra boost.Â
When listing your business over Google Maps, have basic requirements such as a Website, Business Address, Phone and more importantly Business name(which consists of keywords). Do not stuff keywords more and also write a good description explaining your business. Also, check what your competitors are doing, you will come to know about their strategy.
