Getting Into India

Does anyone know how I can get into India? I'm starting to rank fairly well in the U.S. and U.K. in Google for certain keywords, but I get very few emails and purchases from India.

I guess my questions are :

    1. How do you people buy things online in India? Apparently, Paypal is not as popular?
    2. Do English-speaking sites do very well there? Or does it really have to be in Hindi and/or Bengalese?

Any insights would be much appreciated...

Thx for the info. I'm not really selling hard goods. (My site is health-related.)

I sell ebooks via Paypal, but I haven't received payments from India for some reason. Do you have any recommendations? I'm looking for a way that Indians will electronically buy one of my books online, ideally off of my web site, but I am open to any possibility.

I sell my books on Amazon and Smashwords as well, so if there are any ebook sites popular in India, I would appreciate that info as well.

Very int'g about Amazon - I'm an Amazon affiliate.

I have received a few emails from India, but it's few and far between. And I don't ever remember receiving a Paypal payment, although I get payments from all over the world.

Hmmm. Well, that's interesting to me, because I looked over the paypal list of countries and didn't see India in there. I guess my eagle eye missed it!

Indians are quite reluctant to buying ebooks most of the time. we get tons of free traffic from India but the conversion rate there on any goods that require a credit card is extremely low, so most of the time we show CPV or CPC for them.

Well, thx for the info. I really don't want to go down the CPV or CPC path: my site is completely clean of ads except for a few Amazon affiliate links. Is there any other way?

    Guys,

If I sign up with Flipkart, should that help? Will that tend to build trust?

(I already signed up for an account...)

No it does not have to be hindi /bengalese as here almost every state speaks different languages. So English will do!
for buying things Online we have some established websites, less people tend to go to new websites.
for example, ebay.in, flipkart.com(i don't know whether this one is new or old), shopping.indiatimes.com, futurebazar etc.

If you have some good money, then better do an ad in TV or news paper.
Creditcard billing is an option. Paypal will do fine unless you have a indian paypal account. transferring indian paypal account to/from indian paypal account i think is not possible!

    @Whisper9999, i totally agree with @obscurant1st..,
Answer to 1st Question: Here we have some restructions through PayPay., if we buy a product from outside country (US, UK, AUS) we need to have PayPal Account., Paypal accounts more mostly used on business purposes..., not for buying (as far as i know).., if you want to enter india.,

Answer to 2nd Question: You don't require to have Hindi or Benagli language websites.., if created pages with hindi or other languages.., then we have GOOGLE TRANSLATOR ... :D

There are people in india who use PayPal a lot and also owns English websites. And almost all websites that indians visit are in english. But very few indians shop online and mostly accept cash on delivery option.

Thanks so much for the tips guys! Any additional are much appreciated.

I already sent Flipkart an email but never heard back. And it looks like to sign up for Ebay India, you have to be in India?

I think I might have to call some of these places. I know to call to Mexico you can buy cards here in the U.S. Anybody happen to know the best way to call to India? Are their cards like that that you can buy?
