My forum pages are getting higher rankings than my website

I am getting much higher rankings from my forum than my actual website for most of the keywords.

    Anyone have any idea why?

    Furthermore:
There are some instances where a page on my forum, which is competing with a page of my website for the same keywords, gets a higher ranking. However, the site has more content than the forum. That particular page on the forum also has the same or less amount of interactions.

Is that a case of my forum OVERALL being more updated than my website?

Also does a sitemap have anything to do with it?

    1. Because fresh content is probably being posted to your forum daily.
    2. The language of the forum is natural so the keywords rank higher because you have forced them on or overstuffed them in your website content.

You should see if there's a tool to take excerpts from the top forum posts and post it to your homepage.

Plus, your forum is more social, more user interaction and probably why many people are coming to your site.

The link has probably been shared more etc.

    First of all, congratulations, mate!!!
Then, concerning the reason, it is probably due to the fact that your forum page are more interpersonal where there are more interactions between you and your readers.
Try to make your site a better platform for communication. Read your readers' comments and reply to the good ones as much as possible.
    It might help.

The reason for your forum pages ranking higher than your website pages is surely freshness in content. to shift the value towards your website, i would suggest you to link your related website page from your forum page.

    hi buddy,

a great question has been come up by you..with this sort of doubt.. we all may learn so much...

my viewpoint here is that Google and SE (search engines) understand each web-page as a individual entity or element.. for instance, amazon.com is a very respectable and reputed source around the net.. but some of their webpages are ranking higher than others.. why? maybe they are being linked with more powerful backlinks ,has a greater pagerank or even the content being displayed on that webpage possess a good LSI (stands for Latent Semantic Indexing).. LSI is a very crucial factor to get good rankings for your websites since Google and some search engines evaluate the relevancy of an article through this.. the more relevant your content is.. the more chances your webpage has to rank well..just google "LSI what is" or something like this for further info on this elemental subject when it comes to be on the top of search engines´ result pages.

    Cheers to all

Google love deep link and fresh content, so your forum get a better rank. By the way, I just make a quick check, you homepage is PR4 which is higher than your forum PR3. Some time the PR is not response immediately, in most situation root domain is always stronger.

as people have already said above, your forum likely is more fresh and has more natural content than the site itself.

perhaps. but in any case you can profit from this by adding a feed of the latest / most popular forum posts to the main page, or auto-linking back to the main page from a forum thread with the respective anchor text. the first would pass along some freshness and keywords, the latter targeted link juice.

    unlikely.
