Contest Logo and Branding contest - $25

Discussion in 'Design Contests' started by joseph.stevens7, Jul 24, 2011.

    Contest objective:
Create a logo for a website that reflect the brand's values.

    Logo format:
High resolution PSD, JPG, and PNG files that can be scaled down to smaller sizes easily.
Should be able to fit in the top left of the website when scaled down (not big like current website logo).

    Website:
AccountantTown.com (The .com should not be included in the logo. Don't mind the current design of the site as it will be overhauled.)

    Brand/Logo Concepts:
    1) Keep it simple, logo should have subtle color design. Keep it conservative. Clean, crisp lines. Logo should be on a white background.
    2) Make it memorable! There should be some type of simple and unique graphic and/or font that sets us apart

    Brand Personality/Values:
    1) Quality
    2) Trust
    3) Simple
    4) Young Professionals

Some of the premier brands in Accounting we are competing with:
    deloitte.com
    ey.com
    pwc.com
    kpmg.com
    roberthalf.com

Notes: It should have the graphic. One idea is a downtown metropolis city skyline in the background to convey the "town" aspect of the site. I'm open to all other ideas as well.

    Contest Deadline: 7/31/2011
    Feedback will be provided

Nice work, I like the skyline.

    1) Lets drop the sparkles from the logo
    2) Add two more small buildings on the sides (approximately same height as the one in the middle or shorter) to stretch the graphic out
    3) The font is going to need to be sharper. The first too rounded/cartoon. The second I can't put my finger on it but it doesn't seem business-like enough.

    Overall looking good though!

    Looking better!

    1. Lets tighten the base of these buildings up so there isn't a gap, or at least a much smaller one. Make sure they line up symmetrically (each corner is a 90 degree angle)
    2. Can we stretch the middle building so it i just a litltle taller than the others? Nothing extreme, just enough to provide an arc-like shape to the skyline
    3. I like the font, lets keep this one. The white outline seems to work as well. Lets loose the drop-shadow underneath it and experiment around with some text colors.
    4. Pull up the ruler/grid in photoshop and double check to see if the buildings are centered properly on the text

    Nice.
I like how the design of the building has the arrow pointing up - very hip stylized yet corporate/professional graphic.
It would be nice if this looked more like a skyline across the top of the logo.
Take the Caps Lock off so the logo doesn't look so wide, maybe change the font if necessary.

    Nice.

Can you provide a more zoomed in/higher res. logo of the box graphic with the skyline in it and the sites name? This looks like more what I'm looking for than the rest of the logo
Not sue if you noticed, but the colors look VERY close (aka too close) to the Deloitte colors though.

Can we make it for a white background rather than black? Also, the name should fit on one line - decrease the font size if necessary. Also, a font that isn't so thick and has sharper edges might look cool.

Thanks for giving it a shot maestria. The skyline looks kind of cool. These other guys are just a little closer to what I am looking for and will probably end up going with one of theirs. Keep up the good work and good luck on the next one.

    With new concept.
I tried to do almost everything you said but it was quite difficult as it does gave Resterize Layer and Layer Merge before, but I think it comes out pretty.

    Big improvement!
How about this mod - we make the buildings silver/gray and extend them out a bit to cover more of the text. Nothing fancy, just some short, tapering buildings like I made an ugly version of in here.

Then font is better. Lets make that and the arrow some shade of red.

What happened to the bottom of the building in the middle? Can't we just 'stretch' the middle of the building rather than sticking several copies of it o top of itself?

There also seems to be more, not less, white space between the building foundations.

Were we going to try any colors on the text?
