We have a website which is in PHP and we are going to redesign and redevelop this website in .NET. The parameter to redevelop the website includes completely new design, changes in content and URL rewriting. Problem is the current website is ranking very well in search engines for many keywords and If I make any changes then ranking will fall in down for the keywords So is there any idea to keep that position maintain with all the desire changes?
How can I maintain those ranking with the redesign and redeveloping my website?

If u dont change its adress i think it would not lose its ranking. more over u can resgister the same page with two different adresses and notify it on ur site. As when NATIONAL changed to PANASONIC they were continuously notifying on their items. In addition to this start working on the new page backlinks.

Thanks for the reply Omer. Problem is url consisting extension .php which gonna change in .aspx and most of the pages are dynamic which needs to be rewrite so this is the essential part of website development. Though url rewriting is good if make it seo friendly and this is the thing which search engines like so I am not scaring to do so but I am still thinking for my back links because the links which I made for the website before gonna lose now, here I am thinking to redirect for them but question is still same that can redirecting url's will make me help to maintain ranking.

If the URL changed then you have to redirect old web pages to new ones...

    Hi,
If we have to make any change in URL is this the only option, not to lose the ranking..

I would suggest you to try Google optimizer... This tool will give you a vague idea how your new website would respond.
