Duplicate Content, dUPLICATE cONTENT

I am slowly learning about SEO and how certain things help and hurt my sites rankings and I was wondering if there is a majic number that content has to be duplicated it hurt my ranking? What I am doing is adding articles on my site and then adding the same stories to my blog which is located on the same site so that visitors can access each article individually insted of seaching through the main pages. Is this hurting my ranking, having 2 of the same articles?
Also I have heard one good way to get traffic is article submission. If duplicate content is bad then why is it suggested to submit articles?

Duplicate content can never be the best, it will be better if you can rewrite or spin the article

    Yes duplicate content is bad!

People submit articles for building traffic and building backlinks not for SEO purpose. It's good to submit articles that is not on your site.

You should not use duplicate content, especially on your own site. It does not increase your ranking and pretty much does not count as a post. In other words, updating your blog with duplicate content would do absolutely nothing to benefit you.

waste of time to add duplicate content. Get a good article spinner that spins your article - but make sure it is a good one. Some of them create some badly written articles! After your article is spun you can submit it to directories. I personally would rather just submit my homepage to as many directories as I can - it builds better backlinks in the long run.

why don't you create original content..i mean, when y'all choose spinner for article you must choose the synonyms for words and i think it's wasting your time too..i copy the article with foreign language, translate em with google translate and fix the structure so i get readable original content..

If you are adding content on main site and it is yours unique content then adding it on your blog section, I do not see anything wrong with it, now if you submit it to article directories without spinning it well, then you won't rank well for them on directories that is your penalty

It will definitely flag your website and devalue the content related parameters. You might not the see the difference right away, but in the long run it will be very hard to go on top of your competitors unless they doing same thing. Duplicated content it is one of major issues what was re-calculated with Panda update.

Thanks so much. I can change up my articles that I take from my site and put on my blog. No problem there. I wrote the damn thing once I can write it again in a different way. It seems rediculous to have to do but I understand how searches don't want the same content coming up.

Post your original content and see that it gets indexed by Google. Use the query 'site:yourdomain.com' to find out what Google has about your site. Once Google indexes your original content you can go ahead and post copies of it elsewhere - Google should give you 'credit' for the original article because it found it on your site first, so anyone else that has an exact copy got it from your site. Don't link between duplicate copies though - meaning one copy as a link that links to another copy.

There is no magic number as to when duplicate content starts hurting. It's a bad idea to begin with.

Why would you post duplicate content on your website? That's what Google engineers also know, and they implement this in their algorithm, that's for sure.

However, duplicate content across the internet can also mean something good to Google, such as a syndicated news that many websites pick up because of RSS.
With that said, you can submit the same articles many times, but do it in a short time span so it stays fresh in Google's eyes.

If you have great plans for your website and you are serious about your website, dont use duplicate contents, hire someone to write your contents professionally. There are a lot of good affordable copywriters out there. Google Panda targets duplicate contents or site with thin contents, so its not worth using contents that has already been used before

Every article on my website is added to my blog which is also on my website. I just copy and paste it on my blog so that each article can be accessed individually without having to read through my whole website. Everything is original content.

Perhaps you'd want to include only the article title and summary of the article in your blog. Or a short version of the article, and 'read more...' would lead to the original article. That might also be better for your users, reading the articles would always be consistent, out of the blog.
You might want to look at what you can do.
