How do I remove my indexed pages from Google?

    Hi,

I recently imported my one forum's database to another forum. I wanted to started the old from scratch. I have successfully transferred all posts and thread to the new forum, but and the old forum now has 0 posts. Now, when I do site: oldforum.com, it still shows all posts and I am wondering if my new forum's posts will be seen as duplicate. Is there anyway I can remove those urls from Google for my old forum? I removed all sitemaps from Google webmaster tool as well.

    Thanks

To remove content (including a snippet, title, page content, or an entire URL or site) from search results, the site owner—whether it's you or somebody else—has a few options. The site owner can remove the concerning information from the page, take the page down from the web entirely, or indicate that Google shouldn't crawl or index the page.

Why not set up a redirect from the old page to the new page?

Are they on different domains? If so, forward the old forum domain to point to the new forum domain.

Yes... You have to do it within your Google Webmaster Tools..

There is a section there, that allows you to submit the URL that you want removed.

They will review it and make the determination as to whether or not it will be removed.

If its not removed by them, they will give you an explanation as to why and what you need to do.

And when you are building the new contents for old forum, set "noindex, nofollow" for the site to show Google it is not ready to get indexed the old pages may get removed.

Yes you can do it via submitting the url you want to remove in webmasters tool..they will review your request and remove the page from Google index. You just need to submit the urls in a section of broken links.

Thanks for your help. I will try submitting my urls to webmaster tools.

edit: Do I have to enter each and every url or is there any faster way to remove all?

    Thanks

you can add nofollow meta attribute within the page or you can add a robot.txt file describing which pages you don't want to be indexed. Soon after the next crawl of that page Google data centers will update your listing and your page will not appear on Google SERP.

It seems you have removed every info from GWT of your old site. Not sure when you did this as you have not mention in your post, so I assume you have done it recently. This is bit time taking process, so wait for some days.

I just deleted all sitemaps from GWT, and when I go to remove urls it was asking me to enter urls. I have more than 1 thousands url and I don't think I can enter all of them. I will try the no index option and also how do you 301 redirect a page. I recently redirected my url to my other forum in cpanel, not sure if thats what you call a 301. I guess there were options like permanent redirect, 301 etc.

With the help of robots.txt, you can remove the indexing of pages that you dont want to index.

Just redirect it. Any links to the old address should count towards the new one.

Why not set up a redirect 301 from the old page to the new page?
