    First, your hosting servers has to be based in the county in which you want to rank high. Use Google webmaster tools and tell google in which country you wish to rank high.

    i think its better to target keywords which are searched highly in your targeted country. For that you can specify your location in Google adwords keywords tool.

    keep submitting your site to google.uk and google.com ..choose keywords according to it , you will automatically see traffic increasing from there .

    just try to do on page optimisaton according to the users of US & UK and also start doing directory submission,social bookmarkin,forum posting ,blog posting,article submissions,RSS feed in US ,UK websites .

    Try local web directories, and when doing seo target google.com and google.uk as well. The rankings will differ but local directories, and getting backlinks from UK sites and US sites wouldn't hurt either.
