How social bookmarking sites hepls in SEO?

I have submitted all my webpages to the digg manually which are about 2000 pages..
How this can be helpfull in terms of of search engine optimization?
Does it considered as the backlinks to my site?

If u submit only one site to social bookmarking site like digg then it is not going to give u enough importance to your links. You also have to put some other links which are not yours website and make your bookmarking profile more volatile then others. This way your links will be get noticed by other users and wil be up in digg search.

It DOES count as a backlink but it's best to have many of them.
It will help index any new post or page on your site more quickly.
If it is good quality, sites like digg can be good for traffic but usually only if people actually pass it along.
