Are there any free Freelancing site that are free for the people looking for a job?

I am trying to look for jobs online but many of the sites wants you to pay money...

And also what does it mean by Bid?.. I don't understand..

Never join to any sites that ask you for money to register. You can look at tha elence, odesk, fiverr, freelancer as these are very reputed outsourcing sites.

Elence and Freelencer are probably the best ones, I was looking for a freelencer and these two had the best conversion...

Most freelance sites are free i think. You could start with classified ads and fiverr.com

There are several sites to choose from. Odesk, Elance, craigslist...to name a few. You have to check out each site to make sure you are happy with their payment terms.

If you use freelancer.com be very careful. They do not have an escrow...they use something called a milestone. once you bid on a project and are accepted you have to pay freelancer a percentage of the job. If the other person does not pay you you are then out money.

There are a lot of people who scam others using that site. I have done some work there, but I was scammed at least twice. The customer support will tell you they have no way of enforcing the payment.

First of all, i don't think paying to get a job is brilliant so don't join any site that asks for money before joining. I am sure of three sites that are genuine odesk.com, desklancer.com and fiverr.

I use freelance, elance and fiverr and so far enjoy working on elance the best. The people on elance are way more professional and more willing to pay market rates for the work than those on freelancer. Also, freelancer has retarded policies regarding withdrawal of funds and take their cut before you even begin the work. Elance is my number one choice for freelance work.

I also enjoy fiverr but I would be hard-pressed to make an actual living from that site alone. But I suppose if you aggressively promoted your gigs and ran a handful of them simultaneously then you might be able to do so.

You could try elance, but it's pretty hard for a new individual to get a contract, as people tend to go with those with feedback
