Google's Own pagerank drops : ) ..

Discussion in 'Google' started by psharma, Jul 7, 2011.

    Gooogle.com Pagerank dropped to 9.
I checked using all pagerank tools and their new Page rank is 9..

    Facebook.com still has a pagerank of 10..

So should we start calling it 'Facebook PR' instead 'Google PR' .. LOL

When it comes to ranking, it seems, google is very honest and hence there is no favor whomsoever it may be!...

Google has to build backlinks to get back to its original position:)

More links ? I can see they already have number of backlinks in 9 digits...

Probably they want to emphasize that toolbar PR has no importance at all. Even Matt Cutts has repeated this thing many a times.

Of course this makes sense since not to many people actually link to Google now days and it doesn't host any unique content on it main page.

Plus it always shows that google plays fair with it's own sites.

If it came down to the choice of a link from the front page of google or facebook, which 1 would you take?

This is the honesty of Google. For this I like Google very much. They never do any compromise with rules.

But which rule do you think they have violated which caused a drop in their PR ? they still have huge number of backlinks including authority backlinks.

Posted this elsewhere, but it's at least a little funny that Facebook has a higher PR than Google.

Might be an indication their PR algorithm is not in optimum equation to give the right PR value for sites, and their own site is affected.

At least we can see they are not 100% bias and allow for their own PR do drop a bit (even if it is only a 1 pt from 9 to 10 lol).

But I'm glad they are changing it and there is a notable difference...was waiting quite awhile for the PR update.

We will have to see how good "+1" turns out to be. It may be that they are trying to use the raw feed in a similar way that Likes/Tweet feed is used as a ranking factor. Microsoft has an alliance with FB. But bothe Google/Bing has access to the raw twitter feed.

The PageRank patent is actually assigned to Stanford University. Who needs PageRank when you are the #1 visited site in the world? Although I must admit Google's honesty.

I think PR is a fair policy as they want to send someone ahead of Google if he deserves.

I bet that's exactly the reason why so many Google/YouTube videos are ranking so high in compare to other video sites

    Facebook!
at least i could expect some targeted traffic out of it.

google is still better than facebook.

Facebook is just for sharing and most the time it's spamming.

The Internet today is a special gift by google to us.

Google these days shows filtered search results and having banned millions of suspicious sites (like co.cc banned for significant spyware and fraud) and many of them outta there contain malware shows up a warning message, i have seen it many a times.. a very good improved.
