    At any time google will consider high quality backlinks. With google panda update all black hat techniques are gone. Check the competitors backlinks and work on that

    Just follow the webmasters blog of google and you will see all the coming updates. and though pagerank is good criteria for site ranking but its now not only the single one. Other are bounce ratio, CTR, time viewers stay. And many more..You need to go in detail also..And of course page speed

    Google may change their PR algorithm more often but won't change the guidelines to get good PR, quality links & contents.

    It is termed as PANDA ALGORITHM. The name not only affects most of the websites but also horrifies those who did not get affected.
    What PANDA says ?
    According to it a Useful Website
    1. Will pass a human inspection.
    2. Is not splattered heavy with advertising.
    3. Is well linked externally.
    4. Have all original content.
    5. Does not have a 100 % bounce rate.

    I think this will clear your idea about the new algorithm.

    The Panda update is actually 500+ minor updates that will be happening over the time span of this year. My advice is to Research the Panda Update & diversify your backlinks.

    Are you slamming your page with a bunch of nonsense to get the highest PageRank? Well, I’m sure you don’t, but we all know someone who does, or, at the very least, have run across some webpages that come off more like link breeding grounds than actual, informational and useful content sites. This is how terribly designed websites, or awful copy, some of which is obviously spam, infiltrates its way into the top of the Google pages.
