Do I need to upgrade to windows 7 or 8?

    Hello guys,

Here's the story, currently, my computer OS is Windows XP. I know it's old but I'm familiar and happy with it.

However, since it's old, later, most programs won't be compatible with. So I decide to upgrade my Windows. Do I need to upgrade my windows XP to windows 7 or it's better to wait windows 8 to come out?

    Thanks

We're in the same boat but then I remembered I had some Windows 7 disks from people who gave us their computer when they "upgraded" to a new system. My thoughts at the time were to wait for Windows 8 assuming it was going to be the same progression Microsoft does with Windows. However, Windows 8 appears to be an entirely different animal compared to the other versions and I don't know if there's enough information about the system requirements to determine if that's feasible. Another thing to think about is, since the user interface, at least, is changing so much, how many problems and bugs are there going to be with this whole thing?

If you can wait a year to upgrade, perhaps it would be worth the wait to see more information about Win8 and if it's something you really want. If you don't want to wait that long, just get Win7 now and you may not need to buy another version for another 10 years.

You SHOULD update to windows 7, it's a combo of xp stability and vista looks. It's a great thing and i've been using it for a year now. Quite happy with it!

What does that have to do with the question? Typical DP poster can't read or understand.

first make sure you computer specs can handle a newer OS. sometimes its better to stick with an older OS. im pretty happy with windows 7. even vista... why change something that already works XD. when i buy a new laptop, maybe next month ill be sure to try windows 8. :)

My computer is quad core and the clock is 3.0 GHz. Sure it can handle newer OS. The question is which one I need to choose? Windows 7 or 8?

How many times do you need an answer repeated to you before it sinks in?

Actually windows XP was most popular operating system over the world. but now it is an old version of windows and windows7 is update and most friendly operating system at the present time. In a time i was fan of windows XP but now i am using windows 7. If you face any problem with XP you can upgrade to windows 7 but XP is not bad.

Now or never..I suggest you go for windows 7. New systems keep coming and going. We can't sit and wait for new one to come. DO IT. Upgrade!

It is very subjective, all depend your needs. If you usage is for work purpose and it require certain feature e.g. xp mode and bit locker, then I advise you dont wait upgrade to win7 now. If your PC is for entertainment purpose, upgrade to Win 7 or Win8 also not a big deal.

Who knows the new Windows 8 buggy like Vista, it is risky to choose new OS. When come to usage for working purpose, it is good to choose a stable OS.
