Simple question which a Google search didn't reveal the answer to: If your website address is written in an article or on a page or whatever, in text, without being an HTML link that you can click on, will it still count as a backlink in Google?
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Backlink http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hyperlink I think a backlink is a reference that users can directly follow, so the "text link" by you won't be count as backlink by google
Yep, this is what I was looking to know. A site has written our web address on some articles, but they didn't make it a hyperlink. So I assumed that Google wouldn't treat it like a backlink. Which sucks but maybe we'll be able to convince them to make it a hyperlink...
the nofollow and do follow attribute matters a lot in such links.. if link is dofollow then google will consider it otherwise not consider it as a backlink !
yes dofollow and nofollow does matter in text link. Google count your text links as backlink if it is dofollow otherwise not.
