Difference between white hate and black hat

Most people still don't know what white and black seo means. White hat seo is simply the act of using techniques or tactics or guidelines of any particular search engine. These techniques are are meant to give traffic your site to a higher page rank without any deception or trickery.

Black hate seo is using deceptive techniques that work well to achieve high page rank. Of course it gives results but there are strict consequences to deal with. People involved in black hat overload their pages with keywords, their content may be nonsensical and stuffed with links and they also mask their links as something else thereby deceiving people to their sites.

With white hat techniques, your site is safe while black hat comes with strict consequences.

 

White hat is simply ethical and legally well approved to use but black hat is vice versa. If anyone's site is caught by doing BH the it might be banned from the search engine ever. So say no to BH and keep your site SEO friendly using WH.

I agree! White Hat is better in the long run, but I think IMers should learn Black Hat Techniques and even try them out on sites you do not mind if they are banned? Black Hat = Quick Short Term Money - White Hat = Slow Long Term Money.

I always thought the line between white hat and black hat somewhat blurred.

White hat according to google is limited to on-site SEO by maximising internal linking and using correct html and css, also using systems like sitemaps. Google also suggest writing unique content and pinging / submitting sitemaps and RSS feeds. Everything else link building related is considered black hat by google as you are intentionally gaining links with a view to game the search engine rankings.

In reality search engines cannot penalize a website for its inbound links as it would just give your competitors a way to get your website delisted.

I think that white hat really is building links by using sites that gain by you posting your content and links, sites like article directories, website directories, bookmarks and certain types of blog commenting. Obviously the use of automated backlinking tools is considered black hat and can result in less than favourable search engine rankings but generally the more links you can get the better.

 

White hat is all that is allowed by the search engines.
Black hat is all the sneaky strategies to trick the search engines.

Black hat is where you do things like keyword stuffing instead of writing meaningful great content. Buying links instead of building them naturally.
