If I move my PR2 website to a new server will this affect it?

I have a website that has PR2. It is currently running on the Sharepoint platform but I want to change the whole site and move it to my Wordpress hosting. If I do this will it affect the Page Rank?

New server shouldn't cause an issue like Revelations said. Just make sure you get it done ASAP! Minimal delay in between the switch. :)

Thanks Adnan, I'm wondering if I can build the site first then switch the nameservers over later... I bought a site recently that had about a 24hr downtime after it and now it has died traffic-wise, i an wondering if that is why...

I didn't new server move would cause a problem Adnan I just mentioned it needed to be a good server/host

I had a host a number of years back whose page load times we're abysmal due to too many sites sharing

So just make sure new host has been checked out would be the advice I was giving

LOL I think (well it is how I read it ) that Adnan was saying - just like Revelations said, the new server shouldn't cause an issue - rather than you said it would cause an issue... :)

Yes you should not change over the nameservers until your site is up and ready on the new server. Also don't take down your old version on the old server for at least a few days after you've changed your nameservers just in case it takes a while for the new nameservers to propagate. Best of luck!

    It's answered already robinwood

No it doesn't hurt as long as the down time is not excessive and the host you move to is good

Maybe I am explaining it wrong but it is an add-on domain which ends up as a top level once you have changed the nameservers. But as I don't want to change then until I have rebuilt the site I don't know if I need to class it a a subdomain or get to it via the top (main) domain. I'm asking hostgator anyway so maybe they can tell me!

Yes, it may effect on the performance of your site. But it will not permanent. You will get back your position soon. Google always like new, so the new decoration of your site mey help you ranking good in search result.

I understand your question. If you would like to work on your website without having to change the nameservers you will need to change some setting on your computer pointing the domain to the IP to access the domain. Here is a guide with the steps you need to take that I use when I want to access a site before changing the nameservers.
