I've Just Removed All Ad Targeting

Discussion in 'Publisher Network' started by www.AmCy.org, Oct 26, 2006.

My earnings haven't been that great lately, so I decided to remove all ad targeting to see if I can somehow reset the ads that show up on my sites. I see how it goes for about a week. I still have plenty of ad blocking setup.

    Wish me luck!

It is indeed....just had to do it though..

Back on topic perhaps if the ads are targeted and CTR% is low RPC drops???

I think that may be a better answer to the problem.

Please don't, do that in the appropriate forum(by the way, we can only print as much money as we have gold, we can't just print away)...

also, let us know how the ad dropping works...I've been thinking about it as well, but just haven't done it.

My plan: if removing ad targeting results in even poorer performance, I'm going to try removing all ad blocking as well to see what that does for me, though I am a bit nervous about too many unrelated ads hurting the credibility of my sites.

Didn't the Nixon Shock of 1971 take the U.S. off the gold standard?

    Amcy,

Why did you pick this time to remove your targeting?
Did you reach your monthly goals already or justing testing CTR, RPC?

Yes, that's right. My credit card sites did well this month, so I feel that I have some room to experiment a bit.

It doesn't look good, but I have to give it more time, because today my traffic was down across the board for some reason. I'm going to leave it sans targeting for at least 5 days.

definately, you need to give their contextual targetting system a chance to really pick up on your content. then you can see what kind of ads they give you and how they perform.

i am trying this as well and even though i had a server crash where my sites were down for 5 hours - i still earned more than last week and day isnt over. but time will tell if it is sustainable. you would think that it was in ypn's best interest to serve the highest paying ads - but who knows?

no doubt, YPN is paying low compare to the june-July months[atleast 20% lower].

I strongly believe that if you dont target your ad, it will decrease up to 30%. from my experience, only thing i can say is try to change category & see if CTR increase but never try to remove targetting b/c it can be huge loss.

I would have to agree with this statement, I have tried it myself and found RPC to fall to a point where an increase in CTR did not help the overall revenue.

Even with ad targeting my ads are extremely unrelated. Maybe i just need to wait and let the categories propagate or something. RPC has been way down for entertainment sites.
