I think this section is correct, since i am talking about piratebay business...

ThePirateBay killing business of lots of big companies like WB, Microsoft, EA, etc., Why it is still not possible to takedown this site ? All these big companies are from USA and too the whole internet is based on USA... why they can't ban their domain name ?

    just for info...

it's probably hosted in another country. Personally, I don't know if it's actually hurting it as much as they say, there's no guarantee that the people downloading would pay the extortionate price of tickets and food at a cinema, or buy the dvd if they couldn't watch it free. I believe some artists/games have actually benefited, it makes breaking a another country easier, word of mouth etc.

They need to encourage romance X) it's not exactly romantic to sit cramped in a room, watching a downloaded movie on your pc monitor.

The site is hosted out of Stockholm Sweden. If you are referring to why doesn't the US take them down here is your answer.

It gets lots of support too. I myself support piratebay as most linux iso developers use them for distributing the files.

Like Captaim said, I think the biggest reason is that ThePirateBay is located outside of the U.S.

I expect these sites to become unavailable to residents in the US in due time. I'm pretty sure there is a bill that might have or close to being pass that would force IPS's to block accuse to websites that are guilty of distributing copyrighted content.

In some countries it is blocked, easy to bypass though. But because of the laws in sweden, the server can't be taken down just like that.
Same goes with domain names. It is not that easy to just block a domain name.

And for your record, the owners of pirate bay have already been trialed and sentenced to jail time, but such trials takes a lot of time and are really complicated. Internet laws are not very clear right now, so the laws are not directly against them. A grey area..

Wrong , the TPB can't be taken down . The main reason is that the Swedish law doesn't infringe them and those corporations can't do shit against another country's sovereignty . The other reason being that Sweden is in the E.U. which is the world's biggest economy so no US corporation can bully them .

Nobody will ever be able to stop these kind of sites cropping up. If TPB was to be taken down, there would be (and are) hundreds of sites to replace it.

Depends what you mean by "taken down". Server files can always find a place to be without being seized, but domain name can easily be seized if authorities really wanted to.

Its not simple enough.. there are thousands of other torrents sites, even torrents search engines came to existence now..
all they can do is just kick TPB from google and others SE's search results as they do with .co.cc

The websites server is run in another country, and in that country the copyright laws are not strict.
Technically, the US could block the website to all people in the US, but then there would be a whole bunch of riots and lawsuits about our rights to freedom, etc. So the US government will not do that. If a website like that was started in the US however, it would be shut down in no time.

The only people who are really mad are the copyright owners.

Also, many of the files and things on websites like thepiratebay.com are LEGAL. Piratebay can claim they are just running a website that shares files. It's true actually, they are just providing the file hosting, it is the people uploading illegal files that are doing the crime.
