I'm just starting up a small project to develop Mobile optimized sites for local businesses in my area. What would you guys suggest are the best methods to attract new clients. I was thinking along the lines of going cold calling but I'm now not so sure of the effectiveness of this seeing as I've done it as a full time job for a few years. Was just looking for a few out of the box ideas if anyone here as done something similar before? Thanks, Len
Not a bad idea Len. How about a free seminar about using mobile to get new customers? Market direct to small businesses... the close will be easy(er) since the offer is free. And Mobile Marketing is still pretty 'exotic' so getting attention should be easy. I'd mostly rely in cold calls to businesses with a web presence. Then I'd try to cut a deal with organizers on meetup.com who cater to small businesses. If you want to go balls to the wall, shoot out some press releases to the local media channels... might get you some coverage. Stack up on figures and statistics that show the size of the mobile market. Maybe a case study or two of websites you've already optimized, showing the difference in traffic figures. You won't even need to "sell" your services; let them know what you do as an introduction and the job is already done. Make sure to force registrations at the door. Those that don't convert at the seminar are now on your list. Market accordingly. Good luck.
I have recently created a Mobile website not sure how to get it in top google results. BTW its .mobi domain
I use a plugin called WPtouch to make sure my blog and any wordpress sites I create are completely optimized for viewing on ipod touches, iphones, and other similar mobile devices. Has worked great for me so far. Check it out if you have the chance
I was interested to create "mobile only" page for my website. I'm no longer now. I think it's a waste of time because I don't think a lot people use mobile, at least not as much as PC/mac users. And I myself don't like to browse the internet from mobile, because the screen is small and it's uncomfortable.
