can you please define me what is meant by pinging in SEO?

People ping their sites through sites like pingler.com called pinging or pingling.

 

So I just update the pages of my site for keywords, is this an effective way to let the search engines know that I have updated the pages of my site?

It is not plinging . it is pinging . This the way to tell google or other search engine that you site has been updated

 

I always ping all backinks to get my clients' websites indexed on Google quickly. Pingler.com and Pingomatic.com are the best ways to use. Try it.

 

Just stick your site in at pingler (.) com and watch it go nuts.. I always index my new sites there.
