Apple Marketplace...

I've just started my new website, allowing drivers to track their gas mileage.

I've also released an app on the apple marketplace.

Would it be better to launch the app as free (with ads) or for 99 cents (without ads).

What's the best way to make money from this niche.

    All advice welcome.

    Thanks.

One word: Freemium. Meaning do both. Launch a free version with ads and launch a premium version without ads.

Free will get you coverage make sure you have the right amount of ads though- too much and people won't buy premium version, too little and people won't buy premium either.

Exactly. Thats why you should do both. Offer it for free and do a 99cent in app purchase.

IMO the good way is to cut off some functionality for free app.

Then you have one free app and one premium. And the difference will be not only the ads but functionality.

Have a free version (with ads) and a paid one that serves as a sequel of the free version. Make sure the free version is a great product but 'not enough' so you make the potential client buy your paid product.

Great advice. Definitely the best thing to do, best of both worlds.

Offer it free for better coverage but @ the same time limit the features and functionality in your app
limited features & options will encourage users to go for paid version.
