Is my sitemap file having a error ?

    Hi friends,

    I started a new site since last 4 months and in the second month itself submitted the sitemap.xml file in the webmasters tool. However since last two months, the webmaster tools is showing submitted URLs 15 and 12 URLs in the web index. When I go to xml-sitemaps.com and check my site, it shows me 88 pages to be indexed.

    Can anyone tell me if there is any error in my current site.xml file ?

    Are you using a robots.txt file on your site? If so, that could be preventing Google indexing content. Alternatively, is some of the content duplicated?

    If you have generated the Site Map from Google webmaster tool then I think no error will be there. Add the Syntax "sitemap:http://www.yourdomain.com/sitemap.xml" in your Robot.txt file.

    I think that when it says that this many number of URLs are in the web index it means that if we search for the exact URL in Google then that exact URL would show up at the top spot. So if it says that 18 URLs are in the web index then 18-20 URLs are indexed by Google's search crawler. Work on increasing the number of backlinks to your site.
