How can I track my banner ad clicks on other webmasters sites?

    I purchase banner ads on other webmasters sites for products I created, but I have no way to track which sites are producing the most sales, most clicks, or any sales at all.

    I sorta pay a lot of money for ads, and at the end of the month hope I made enough sales to make a profit instead of a loss. Problem is, banner advertising doesn't seem to be as effective as it used to be. I don't think people are clicking on links much anymore, or buying when they do click.

    I think I have a few sites that my banners are on that aren't producing any sales at all, and I'd like to be able to identify which ones they are so I can let the losers that are draining my wallet go.

    Any thoughts on how I can track my clicks/sales, or maybe do something to increase my clicks/sales or where I can find a free to low cost script, or something to do this for me would be much appreciated. Free of course would be better!

    Thanks

    There is a simple solution. Create individual landing pages for each banner link, e.g.

    banner 1 -> landing page 1
    banner 2 -> landing page 2

    and so on. Then use log analyzer to see how many clicks each page gets.

    If you are using PayPal as a payment processor, you can easily track your sales if you create individual buttons for each landing page. Other payment processors may offer various tracking options.

    You should use URL's that has ability to track the number of clicks. Then redirect it to your website/landing page. From there, you can use Google Analytics to check where your traffic come from. And you can also create "goals" in GA to track your number of sales for specific product.

    Creating different landing pages could be the solution. Agree with Intermg.

    The best way would to use some ad tracking script, but the webmaster would have to use your code that the script
    produces, when others click on the banner, then impressions, and clicks can be tracked, this would be more effective
    then creating a page for this, and a page for that, and so on, and I know of a good ad script, but I just can not
    think of the name right off the top of my head, as I remember, they even have a 7 day free trial....

    For each banner send them to a different landing page, You can use google analytics or AWSTATS from there to anaylze how many click throughs you recieved and where they all came from along with the bounce rate.
